I know a lot of people on these forums are very nocturnal. Nighttime is when many things go bump. Whats the weirdest thing you have seen/heard/witnessed while out and about in the night?

One time I had two girls stay over night, one slept in my bed and the other on the ground. Lights go out, about 10 minutes pass and the girl sleeping next to me and I hear this sound coming from the floor, a sound that puts dirty thoughts into our heads. We both thought it was the girl on the floor making this sound. The girl laying next to me says " SARA!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING DOWN THERE!!!????" Sara replies THATS NOT ME!!! ITS THE DOG!!!.... Well, it was the dog, it was bitting for fleas. You know that sound they make when they do that?

Anyways, might not be what you were looking for but thats what popped into my head when I read this thread, it was pretty funny..

It may be equally interesting to know the wierdest thing done/seen with a flashlight at night. Remember, this is a G-Rated site.

Since I'm not particularly nocturnal, I personally have not had any interesting nighttime experiences -- except the time I was camping/sleeping on the ground and felt hot breath in my face in the middle of the dark night. My flashlight revealed it was not my campmate, but a curious hog from a nearby farm.

Black cats yea yea lil wee cats

This one night I was sitting on my buddies porch playing cards around 12:30 at night and their was like two of those lil buggers running around and staring at us. Well I don't think much of it but we get talking on the subject. we went over to the store for a case of coke and on the way back one of them starts chasing us down the street we get a lil spooked but shrug it off and just as I walk up to my buddies door to go inside a big black cat darts out from under a table straight between my legs :duck:needless to say it made for a interesting walk home later.

Black cat's are abought the only thing that freak me out and only when they run in front of me or between my legs lol I don't have a problem with them and I have never been attacked by one but when ever they do that I always seem to hurt myself

I am fine in the woods at night as their is very little around here that will hurt me and a smaller few of those that are not scared away by people. The only thing that really concerns me is other people in the woods but there are only a few nuts I know who venture out into the woods at night around here they are mostly sheeple

Date: December 22, 1968 (Exact date is approximate, but month & year are correct)
Time: approx. 2:00am
Location: West Jueau (Corner of Nowell Ave. and Cordova St.); Juneau AK
Conditions: Clear, temperature approx 0 degrees F, winds calm
Camera & Film: None available
UFO sound? None I can recall
UFO lights? Entire object evenly illuminated, emitted bluish-white light
Duration: Unknown, likely in the 5 to 10 minute range unless an abduction occurred

This encounter occurred when I was approximately 5 years of age. The exact date can't be recalled, but it was very near Christmas and the weather conditions were clear & uncommonly cold.

Around 2 in the morning, I was awakened by a shaft of bright bluish-white light entering my bedroom window. I got out of bed and walked towards it to see what was causing it. When I stepped into the beam, I became paralyzed within a few seconds. But not before I looked out the window and saw it:

A large, bluish-white object was hanging above the bare trees in the back yard. The object was shaped somewhat like a half-moon; but the "flat" part wasn't flat at all, it was scalloped like the tops of towers on a medieval castle. It was also canted over at a bizarre angle - even at 5 years of age I somehow knew the moon wasn't supposed to look this way.
It was much brighter than the moon, and seemed to be about 2 to 3 times larger than the moon should have appeared.

ufo4.gif

This is a crude representation of what the object looked like, and is fairly close to the angle in which it was tipped.

Just after seeing this object, some strange things began happening. I began experiencing what I might now call an altered sense of awareness. My hearing seemed to become much more sensitive - faint sounds became greatly amplified. A pin dropping would sound like a piece of rebar being dashed into a concrete wall; the sound of the dog's footsteps on the floor were almost unbearably loud, and that kind of thing. This persisted for most if not all of the remainder of that night.

For at least the next six years, I had these kind of dream-like things every night - and they would always start the same: a series of colored rectangles (bright yellows, greens and blues) would quickly form in my visual field; they would appear quickly, continuing to appear and overlap one another. A minute or two later, a dark area would appear in the exact center, which would then become filled with a brilliant, green scintillating light. At this point, I would become paralyzed and unable to move and my hearing would become "amplified" again. I would also be overcome with an intense sensation of terror or dread.

Over the years, I learned a way to abort these "dreams" before they reached the paralytic phase; however occasionally one of them still slips through to this day.

Let me get this straight.....you had TWO women in your room and THIS is the best story you have?????:wtf:

You mean like something you hear on the Art Bell Show or one of those old truck driving songs about a ghost truck or Casy Jones train?

Nope, no such stories like that at night. I do have two. One was a dream I was stabbed in the back back in 1700 in Europe, that day a lady from NE called me and told me she was my wife from back then and wanted to say she was sorry that happened and she did not set me up as I died thinking.

Then there was one where Myself and my mother saw her old father who died before I was born standing in the middle of the road in front of the house after a power failure. I had no idea what he looked like as photos of him and other stuff were destroyed in a fire after he died. Later I was given a tour of the old store he ran in a dream and I described it to my mom and seemingly it was correct and accurate. Ive since beento heaven, hell and other countries and planets, realities, etc. Sometimes its hard to tell here from there.

The best story I have heard from was from an emt about a guy who waw dead and was basically from alcohol poisoning. As they quit working on him, had covered him up on the site and waited to finish up the scene, he got up and was fine even though the machine said he was dead and they were unable to et apulse from him. Ive heard from other emt workers that even after you "die" the equipment shows a lot of static from the body as the systems shut down as the oxygen is used up, or they quite before its too late I guess.

1). I used to work overnight in a nursing home when I was in college. During the full moon a few of the catatonic patients started to become active. One actually used to get out of bed, walk around, and checked all the doors. These patients were literally as stiff as boards the rest of the month and were totally unaware of anything going on, let alone the phase of the moon, but this happened so often that the staff got used to it.

2). One summer night when I was a teenager and my parents were at the cottage, I was up very late watching (of course) a very gory horror film. It was a hot night and I had the windows open. There was a very loud and very strange howling right outside the window. After I peeled myself off of the ceiling I went to the door and looked down the driveway but couldn't see anything because of the fog (getting mighty creepy, right?). I looked up toward the other end of the driveway and noticed it was perfectly clear. Hmmm... I got a bucket of water and tossed it into the fog. After the splash, I saw two very wet and somewhat bloody tomcats. It wasn't fog; it was cat fur from the fight they had. There had been so much fur in the air that I could not see through it.

The_LED_Museum - since you are from Sacramento I wonder if you remember something that happened around 1985-1987 or somewhere in that range. Based on your age and season mentioned this was obviously not the same time as the incident you described above. It was a summer evening just before dark when I arrived home to see a very strange light in the sky over my house - quite a ways up and somewhat greenish IIRC. It seemed like an inverted cone of light coming down from something in the sky. I looked at it for a minute or two then ran in to call a friend in another area of Sacto. When I came back out it had changed a bit but I recall that it was like nothing I had ever seen and could not think of any logical explanation for what I saw. It was reported that something like a thousand people called in to radio stations and other places about it so I was just one amoung many who saw it. I think they said later it was something to do with a missle flying over - but that didn't ring true to what I saw. IIRC the strange light initially was not moving much but suddenly emitted this bright inverted cone of light from the underside of it. I don't recall any sound - just a 'way strange' visual.

A floating red sphere that sloooowly moved across the (clear) night sky. It moved from left to right. It was red and "flickered" like a candle. We (me, my uncle, and 2 other buddies - all sober) stared at it for a long time, until it slowly descended into a forested area about 1-2 Km away from where we were. We debating whether we should go and explore, when another sphere appeared on our left.

I'll let you guess what hapenned next. :nana:

Ah come on - gotta tell more - I'm not good at guessing. Please do tell :D

He can't. He's just been abducted in that sphere again. We'll have to wait till they finish their experiments on him and bring him back.

I live in a haunted house - nothing like a Hollywood movie; just footsteps.

Let me explain: we bought our house from a widow in her eighties, around five years ago. She and her husband built it themselves, between 1941 and '43. He was a carpenter by trade, and built it mainly out of scrap lumber - a mill burned down on the waterfront and he took a lot of material from that, so things like supporting beams are four-times thicker than they should be. It's not a big house, but it's the one that will be standing after a major 'quake.

It needed major renos, because the place hadn't been touched since he started to suffer poor health. The wiring and plumbing was all 1940s-code (and about to explode under modern loads) and there had been no decorating since the '70s (lime green walls, pile carpets, etc). We immediately had a couple of walls out and ceilings down.

On about our first night there I started to hear footsteps, coming up the stairs to our bedroom. Although it wasn't every night, it was most nights, and always the same time, 10:20 pm. I didn't mention it to my wife, because I didn't want to freak her out. Well, it turns out that she was hearing it too, and didn't want to mention it to me.

A couple of times I would get out of bed and walk around with a flashlight to see what was going on - the light switch was across the room; anyway, when you are investigating disembodied footsteps, you have to have a flickering old flashlight, right? - but I never saw anything. The noise had always ended by the time I arrived. In fact, they were louder when you weren't listening for them - like when looking at the stars, how they are brighter when you look at them out of the sides of your eyes (hard to explain, but try it sometime).

I also heard them when sitting on a couch, near the bottom of the stairs, again at the same time. The ceiling was down at the time, and a gust of wind blew down through the gap - I cannot explain where it came from, on a still spring evening, or what it was about, but feel I should mention it. But I never saw anything, when I went to look. By the time I made it to the stairs, the sound had stopped.

It was quite regular when we first moved in; we would mention the nights that we hadn't heard it. But after we stopped the renos it became so infrequent that we now mention the nights that we do hear it. I have read somewhere that people in 'haunted' houses have more experiences when doing renos.

Having said that, we still do occaisonally feel a presence. Occaisionally, there is a strong smell of tobacco (I know the previous occupant smoked, and neither of us do). I mean really strong, like someone was in the room.

One evening recently, around a month ago, I'd had a fight with my wife, went upstairs to get some stuff and smelt. . . a male smell. Nothing dramatic, but a the kind of perspiration-and-breath odour (kind of like an older guy that's been working in the shop all day). He was there. Not in a scary way; nothing overt. But I felt him.

I do go lurking around with flashlights up there every night, but never see anything. I'd like to see what he looks like. But I don't think it's that kind of deal.

My scientific brother asked a great question when I told him about the footsteps: do they change when you change the clocks? I can't answer that. I have never noticed them being an hour early or late, but then it's not like it's every night, or anything like regular any more. It's a great question - do the footsteps depend on use being there, and so change depending on our perception of time (ie putting the clocks an hour forward in spring doesn't make an hour disappear) or are they part of the house. . .

As a young man of about 12 or 13 I had an owl (I think) run into the screen of my bedroom window one summer night. It screeched an unholy sound and raked it's talons on the screen as if it was trying to tear through it! I used up a years worth of adrenalin during the 4 seconds or so that it was scraping at my screen and screaming in my window. This was like 3 feet from my head as I was sleeping. I didn't have time to get a flashlight on it I was too busy climbing the wall on the other side of the room :D THe claw marks were evident on the aluminum screen in the morning. Something was trying to claw it's way into my room.

I saw a meteor bouncing off layers of the atmosphere one evening at college. A group of us was walking home in the evening (and it was from a music rehearsal and not a party ;) ) and someone pointed out a bright small point of light falling in the sky, we all looked in time to see it bounce hard to the east for 2 or 3 seconds, then reverse course and go west past it's original position and then fall below the horizon. Really neat!

That's interesting. I don't believe meteors can "bounce off" an atmospheric layer and go into the opposite direction. Even if it did "bounce" into something, it would have been destroyed in an instant. Think about it....when a meteor hits the ground, it doesn't do any bouncing...... very interesting.....
