Here's a 3P build I just finished. Specs:

-FiveMega 18350 Body
-Z41 w/McClicky
-Z44 w/LF stainless bezel ring
-LF D26 drop-in w/219b 4500K and 6x7135 2.1A driver

Standard 3P takes 16340 cell but custom made 18350 takes stronger 18350 cell with longer run time and if you still need longer run time 18500 will do the job which is still shorter than 6P

Personally not looking into Malkoff due to price range. But I do come across LFs often. LF does offer the single-cell (3-3.7V) D26 variant running at around 1.5A (previously 1.2A). They also have a tri-LED variant which yields very good area illumination IMO.

I agree. I had Lumen Factory's drop-in and the build quality is great. Mine was warm white D26, tint and color temperature was very much similar to Surefire's incand drop-in.

My 3P type SolarForce L2M with a 300 lumen Rayovac 2aa module.

Note the red o'ring that pushes the module back into the head to make contact at the shoulder.

And a fivemega 3p clone with a blown R30 module that has a Yuji as a replacement.

Throw one of these in there with an imr 16340. They're really good and only a couple $

Malkoff M91 with a 16340 will give you about 500 lumens for 15 minutes. Not so practical but if you want a pocket rocket it's a blast. Also will run on cr123 for about 100 lumens with a decent run time.

Good choice but make sure you don't use the original 3p bezel! You will bake the lens or could damage the Malkoff!

I agree with you. Malkoff might not expensive but the shipping to overseas (for those who don't live in the US) will increase the price quite significant.

Meanwhile, I'm currently waiting for my Malkoff drop-in to arrive within a week or two.

Depends on what battery you use, if you want to use a rechargeable battery Malkoff M61 series.
Primarys only for Malkoff M31 series.
Either way Malkoff.

How does the M61 do with a single cr123 primary?

Plus one to bykfixer's suggestion. Find a blown incan module and install a hcri Yuji 5mm emitter in the reflector. Takes 10 minutes. Runs a LONG time on a primary 123. (No rcr's...) See SF "G1" with said Yuji module and a McClicky kit in the tailcap. 10+/- lumens of hcri goodness. 😎

Upgraded 3P to malkoff M31L.
This R30 was a disappointing bulb with severe unevenness in both spill and spot, so I didn't use 3P.
However, thanks to the upgrade to M31L, it seems that it can be used as a desk light.

I was wondering which one to choose between M31 and M31L.
I decided on the M31L based on a post on Malkoff Runtime Graphs.
