Hello everyone! I've lurked around this sight recently and decided to pick up a Surefire 6p incan with the expectation of eventually getting a p60 LED drop-in. I just received the light a few days ago and tested it out - I loved it! However, later that evening I pressed the momentary-on to check on what the cat was getting into - the light turned on for a flash, but then shut off and now won't light. I checked the bulb - the filament appears to be fine. The twisty tailcap still seems to feel like it did before, but both the momentary on and constant on won't work. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? I'd hate to have to send my light to Surefire after the first day!

You'll need to answer a few questions for this to get sorted out...

How long have you run the bulb?
Did you buy the 6P new in box?
What kind of batteries are you using?

The bulb had only been run for about 10 minutes total while testing it out. It sat for a few hours before I used it when it flashed and went out. Yes, the 6p was bought brand new off ebay (linked through one of the threads here). I'm using 2 of SF's 123A 3 volt lithium batteries. Hopefully this helps!

the xenon lamps drain the cells at pretty high currents, so the batteries can still have 50% capacity or so, but if under any circumstances where the cells are weak or some type of safety feature that prevents the cell from the desired output. it may not light whatsoever.

theres not much in a 6P that can break or wear out...excluding lamps and batteries. for lamps a multimeter with continuity [or "ohm"] setting can test whether the lamps blown or not. as for the batteries, any flashaholic would have at least a set of spares to pop in ;)

If it was NIB, call SF and they'll send you a new P60 lamp. Most lamps will last a longtime, but a few may go :poof: in the first few minutes of life.

I tried a spare set of batteries that I had on hand, still nothing. Maybe I'll give SF a call and see if I can get a new lamp...

Just to make sure it's not a tailswitch problem (unlikely but easy to check) you could pull off the tailcap and jumper between the body end and the battery bottom while pushing up a little on the batteries. A cheap multimeter or continuity checker can go a long way in solving such problems too. Personally I'd just get one of the DX LED dropins for about $10 and you are good to go for a long time with no more worry of :poof:
Of course it can't hurt to try getting SF to send you a bulb too.
