i remember that post too. somebody from surefire said they were planning on releasing tamer knurling. give them a call.

Not exactly, they said they were going to release a smoother E2e. Meaning no hex nut bezel, not smoother knurling. It's an E2e with an E2 bezel in SG, not HA III.

You can see this light here.

Regardless of the potential mixup of which light has what, ain't it great to see how there are no absolutes in taste -- I happen to like the more agressive knurling such as on the E2e, and I wish Arc hadn't gone with the smoother either.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">that light was already out and well known here when the person from sf made the post. i wish someone would find the post but i recall they were referring to the knurling cause the post was about it eating pockets.

the reference was indeed vague.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yes it is but it sure sounds like he is referencing the knurling to me.

Not long after that post on the Surfire website it said something like "Just in time for Christmas". Now it says "For a limited time, SureFire is offering its popular E2e Executive Elite flashlight in a new finish and at a special price. The E2e-SG features an attractive Satin Grey anodized finish and an elegant teardrop-design bezel."

Either way, this is the special smoother E2e. Not what many expected but I remember it being mentioned on the Surefire main page right before Christmas as if they just made these.

not smoother!

i remember when i got my e2e, i said "i love this knurling!"

while it still isn't sharp enough

, i really, really like it.

Good thing is, you can use E2e as a saw. Say to cut a Maglite in two

I thought I had read here that Surefire was going to modify the knurling on its hard anodized lights to be somewhat less abrasive. I searched and couldn't locate the posting, so maybe I heard about it somewhere else...

The question is has the E2 series come out with the softer knurling yet? I'm holding off my purchase until they're available that way...

No. As far as I know, SF does not have any plans on changing it any time soon.

yes, i think he was referring to the satin grey christmas special.

after carrying my E2E for awhile and realizing the lack of knurling where the clip pinches the light i fail to see the problem with the knurling. it seems about right.
