I'm sure some other people have done this but I just picked up some "bizzard" version of the butler creek scope covers that flip open for some of my lights.

The blizzard has a clear or yellow see through lens while it's not as bright as no cover there. It's a very cheap alternative to the surefire covers. Most of them seem to run about $20, I picked up these for $6 a pop. Oddly enough the surefire version looks just like a butler creek cap with a more opaque lens instead of clear

I did my 9N 9AN M2 E2e for what it would have cost me for one surefire filter. Now these are clear lenses so you don't get the beamshaper feature but you could put writeright or scotch tape over the lens and get the same thing.

Anyway in the blizzard model these numbers fit.

#1 = E1,E2,etc. 1" bezel
#4 = M2 this one was odd, my M2 bezel measures 1.46" which should be a #3 but a #3 was way too tight the cover wouldn't function. A #4 is just a little less tight than I'd like, it's snug but not really secure. Maybe a ring of electrical tape would tighten it up I'm sure I'm just anal.
#5 fits the 9N and 9AN

I like the fact that the lenses are protected and I can still use the light if the cover is closed and get good light. Course I also like that fact that it's $6

PK says that the screw-in swappable lenses will be phased in. This way, you only have to buy one, and then the additional screw in filters.
Here's a proto-type:

I'd be curious what the relative decrease in light output is from using SF's versus the "blizzard" red lens cover in a light like the M2 Centurion.

More then likely, Butler Creek makes the SF beamshapers, as well as the Streamlight covers (which are identical to the SF covers, but half the cost)...
