I recently purchased a Surefire defender from eBay, and something tells me its not real. The Surefire logo is backwords according to the Surefire.com images. I would post a picture but I dont know how ( I am new to this site and actully all forms). I may just be a little paronoid because I paid good money for it. And can someone teach my how to post up pictures. Thanks for your help.

there are genuine surfire M6' out there that say 'Magnumtlight' - or something like that, just one 't' too much. This alone doesnt say much...

I would recommend take a good look at the threads, on surefire lights those are better and cleaner than any other light. And, they are not anodized (for whatever reason surefire does this). I have no other light where this is the case.

And take a look at the inside, it is (as far as i can tell) always chem-coated on surefires.

Surefire has made a number of small changes in Logo's and so on so that in itself is probably not cause for concern. If it was sold as 'new' did it come in a box or sealed plastic (like the new ones)? If it came with that and the instructions/warranty you likely have a real Surefire. I don't know of any fake E2D's other than one Chinese one that is similar but does NOT have the Surefire Logo and isn't an exact copy in all other ways either. What is the eBay sellers ID? How is his feedback? If he's got 50+ feedbacks and are positive you probably have nothing to worry about - check his other sales to see if he has sold similar items and feedback on them. To post a pic here you can go to http://www.imageshack.com and click on the upload Free and just follow the directions. And welcome to CPF!

Thanks for your help guys, the threads seem clean and it did come in sealed plastic. So i guess i have nothing to worry about. Also do you have any recommendations for a good thrower that is around 100$ and is hopefully rechargeable. Thanks again.

I guess it depends on whether the flashlight body was loaded into the laser etching matchine by frank (right-handed) or Bob (left-handed)...

That's a real E2d.

Long Distance Thrower (rechargeable) for about $100. Since you won't get a SureFire for that I suggest a TigerLight 8" although I'm not sure exactly how much they cost.

so there IS a variant? 😱oo:
sounds like you've been to PK's Tech Processing area eh?:goodjob: :wow: any :kewlpics:?

It's real or Surefire better start worrying as someone is making fakes as good as the real thing 😀 For a throw monster you might look at the G&P Scorpion R500 - 500 Lumens claimed and comes with rechargeable batteries, charger and built-in charging port on the light. All right at $100. Lighthound - one of the dealers with a great rep on CPF carries them - www dot lighthound dot com. Or if you are okay with going with a custom built light look around here for ROP lights or lights made by cmacclel or fivemega - both great light modders making blazing bright lights based off the C and D size MagLites.

For a $100 rechargeable check out the Streamlight Strion, or UltraStinger if size doesn't matter.

That is a real E2D, and yes, there are many variants. IIRC I have 3 or 4 different examples and there are probably more out there. The etching and the bezel/lens are the most common.
