If I understand correctly they have a similar power consumptions.

E-1: 700 millamps (lithium batt)

8x : 650 millamps (lithium batts)

So, if this is correct the E-1 uses a tad more (50 millamps)

Here`s the question...if they are pointed up at a white ceiling (candle stick style) will they light the room the same, or is one noticably brighter?
 
Getting lights and going in to a dark room. Asking my wife and her friend Melissa to come in a tell me which they think is brighter… They both give me a "are you crazy look"

Well looks to me like the E1 wins by a noticeable margin. It is hard to say if the 8X has a blue tint or the E1 has an amber tint. So this gets back to the whole "Why get a LED light then"; I can argue both ways.

Also the 8X is actually pulling just under 3 watts (4.4v@650mA) and the E1 is only pulling 2 watts (2.8v@700mA). So the E1 is the clear winner there.

Thanks Brock, guess LED`s are still behind. At least the bulbs don`t burn out.
