The E2 puts out more light than the 2D ML with the Carley Xenon Star lamp. I just checked.
This assumes you illuminate the same area; the Sure Fire is more of a flood than a spot. Up to 20 feet or so you are better off with the E2; beyond that, say 75 feet or so, such as up in my walnut tree in the back yard, the Mag Light can be focused to a spot which will allow you to discern objects not visible with the E2; the light is concentrated in a smaller beam.
The 2D ML is not particularly useful. You need at least 3D to get really useful bright light at only a modest increase in size and weight. I keep one around for my 9 yo, as he finds the 3D still a little cumbersome.
Hope this helps, Walt
