Hi all,

I'm new here and have just recently come into the high end flashlight realm. I've always love flashlights, but finally took the plunge.

I have what might be a stupid question: can I get a replacement lamp for a surefire E1L outdoorsman with dual output? i've looked all over and can't seem to find any info.

thank you,
brett

It is possible but it will never be a "problem"

You can upgrade it later, but if something malfunctions and it breaks, surefire will replace.

Yes you can...I believe its called a KX1 head which comes in either single 30lumen or dual level 3/45lumen. I think its only available in black though...

or if your wanting to use rechargable 3.7v rcr123 you might want to get the KX2, which is meant for the E2L/E2E, but can handled the higher voltage unlike the KX1 which can only be used on primary 3V cr123 giving similar output.

ahhh! got it. I didn't figure I'd need to do so, but you never know.

So far, I'm really impressed with it. I did buy a diffuser and that really helps for indoor use.

thank you for answering.

wow, you have to buy the whole head? I bet that's expensive. Hope it never goes out.

Thanks,

The KX1 is what you want. Both the KX1 and KX2 are not set up to run in regulation with a single LiIon. The KX1 will flicker with RCR123, and the KX2 will not run for any length of time in regulatiion. The KX2 runs a buck circuit, while the KX1 run a boost circuit.

wow, I dont' understand a word you've said (ok, maybe a few) but that just means I have to read a bunch around here and be quiet...:)

Yep well its better than having to buy a whole light, although it isnt that much more for the whole thing with free batteries. If it ever goes out you always have the life time warrantly from surefire!

I've heard of people using the KX2 with single rcr123/17670 before...i guess regulation is what you'd lose for rechargability but most who do seem happy with it.

is the LED covered in the lifetime warranty? I thought it only covered defects, etc. If so, that's cool.

thank you,

lol why else did you pay so much for your E1L? Most people get surefires for their reliability and lifetime warrenty

LEDs are not the same as incandescent light bulbs. Unlike bulbs, LEDs (except for the Luxeon V) will run for tens of thousands of hours before failing.

Nope, it's also available in HAIII. Here's my dual-level below:
