Surefire E2E - 6P or G2 for Night Running?

Looking for a bright night light for trail running. I have narrowed it down to these 3 lights. All have lanyard option which I will use and which of these lights has a nice wide beam and fits well in the hand. Some of the streets and trails are pitch black. I am using a Princeton Tec 40 right now and don't know if any of these lights running at 60-65 lumens will give me much more illumination. Opinions please..

Those three lights are expensive to operate because of the lithiums. You will go through a set every hour. Can you afford that?

Have you considered a rechargeable, such as the Stinger, or a headlamp?

Yes I have used an Princeton Tec Aurora headlamp and it works well but I need some serious light. I know it is expensive but have found a good source for 123 batteries on ebay.. I prefer to finish my run in one piece and not get attacked my Coyotes than worry about price of operation.

If you're set on the 123 lights then I'd recommend the G2Z.
Same light as the 6P, same weight as the G2, but with a body shape that you might find easier to hang onto and activate when running.

i would agree with greg on his recommendation. the larger hotspot and slightly longer runtime of the E2e is something to consider as well though.

I'd go with the E2E Outdoorsmen. Smaller and longer runtime than the G2, with a nice large clip to secure to your pants or something. I own both and the G2 is just a tad brighter than the E2E.

If you are frequently on your way I'd consider a akku model and a headlamp.
The best Headlamps, in my opinion, are from lupine in Germany. You have extremly bright light.
Either the LED Headlamp is bright enough for running. If thats not enough you can take the X - BEAM. The runtimes are more than enough.
No I'm not getting any money from lupine

i think the high cost of the lamp is relative if you consider the price of a lithium battery.
you can also fix the lamp easily - without the head belt mount - on your bike.

How about using an Inova X5T for your running light and carrying an E2 or G2 for when you hear/see something suspicious? The X5T lasts a long time and has a good "flood" light for lighting up a trail/street, and the E2 has the beam you'd need.

I agree with Kirk.......65+ lumens can temporarily ruin your night vision just with the light reflected back off a tree or bush.

Hey Runner, I recently went to Academy and bought a $10.00 6v headlamp (used a big square 6v). I put together a 5 cell NIMH 3000 mah sub c pack with an RC car plug and it works great about 2 - 2 1/4 hour runtime, throws further than my 5d mag, very nice spot with plenty of flood (adjustable). I carry a Scorpion for backup, the Scorpion's whiter but the headlamp throws better.
