I was just wondering...is it really ok to use an LED on a plastic body? I throught the whole point of using aluminum body in LED flashlights was to help cool the bulbs down. Will the nitrolon body of surefire be able to take the heat or will it limit the bulb's service life?:poof:

Well, the P60L LA has a temp sensor I believe, so that's why the runtime on the G2L is one hour more than on the 6PL, it's that the G2L's LA gets too hot, so it cuts the output, but the 6PL can run longer before needing to bump down the output, thus one hour shorter runtime.

Hope this helps,

Do a search for G2L in Google Search-CPF only at top of every CPF page. Lots of info available about G2L.

The G2 works great with the Led drop in. THe drop in is itself a decent heat sink, and there is a metal tube that runs the length of the light for the batteries. THe light body does get a bit warm after awhile..which is ok.

Your questions:

"Will the nitrolon body take the heat":

Yes, and because of the thermal sensor in the p60L it won't be an issue anyway. If you are planning to have the light constant on for long periods at a time, maybe a 6p or putting a metal head on the g2l might make you feel better. There is reportedly a slight different in brightness between the 6p and g2l over longer runtimes as the sensor on the p60l lowers output to counteract the lower ability of the g2l to dissipate the heat.

"Will the bulb blow prematurely?" No, for three reasons. Firstly it is a LED. LED's don't burn out like an incandescent, and they are also technically impervious to shock. Secondly, the heat sensor protects the led. Finally, Surefire warrants the led's, so if it does fail, they will replace it.

Hope that helps :)
