The Red Traffic Cone for my SF 6P/G2, split apart at the bottom where it slides on the head of the light.

I called SF customer service to ask them if there was a warranty. The Rep. said there is no official warranty on that product. However, without hesitation he asked for my address, and stated: "No problem we'll send you out a new one."

Thank you Surefire!

Now, he also told me he had not heard of any problem with the cones splitting apart. I decided to measure the head of my 6P and G2. The G2 is .5 mm larger in diameter that the 6P, and that in turn makes it is a little harder to slide the cone on the G2.

I think that could have been the reason mine split since it was on my yellow G2. I love the yellow G2 with the red cone!

In order to avoid the problem, I am keeping the cone off until needed.

Once again a big thank you to Surefire! My favorite flashlight company!

Yes, and for those who don't already know, this .5mm difference will also cause the cam lever to break on the FM series filters if put on/taken off too much (mine broke after putting in on a G2 the 3rd time). I wonder if SF (My favorite company...by far, BTW) is "really" aware of that problem???

Glad to hear the hooked ya up redled!

I agree about their customer service. I noticed a problem with the z62 tailcap on one of my A2's compared to the other A2 and L1. If I wiggled the tailcap while it was in the off position it would turn on. The amount of rotation to turn it off and on was also different. Taking the tailcap off it was obvious something was wrong as it rattled a lot if I shook it and as you pushed in the button it would move side to side where my other z62's would go straight up and down. Swapping tailcaps with my L1 fixed the problem on the A2 and the L1 then had the same problem so I knew it was definitely the tailcap.

I called Surefire this week and they told me no problem they would send me a replacement tailcap. Great service!

Well, did you tell them?

I'm getting some of that wonderful customer service this week, too! I tried to pay for some extra clips, then tried to pay for shipping, but they just wouldn't let me.

SureFire customer support rocks, a few years ago i bought a L2 from one of their dealers in California and the ad said L2 + 6 free batteries, when the package arrived there was the light and 4 batteries.
When I called about this they said the light comes with 2 batteries...now I know what kind of mentality Iam dealing with:mad:.
I contacted sureFire about this and managed to get in contact with the salesman who deals with this company, to make a long story short a few weeks later I received a box with 2 batteries, a catalog, a magazine and a 5.11 tactical hat.
It wasnt about the few dollars in batteries but the principle of it, SureFire was quite interested in what their dealers are up to.

Owen,

No, I did my tests of all this after I called them. I will put in a call and let them know of the difference.

I already have the replacement cone!

Again, thanks Surefire!

Called to let them know of my measurements and they informed me that in the manufacturing process, the G2 models sometimes have a slight expansion, and that is enough to make the traffic cone fit just a little tighter, thus causing the cone to split.

They also advised this can occur with the filters, and diffusers

They suggested to use an aluminum bezel to keep the fit better. Also, keep the cone off the light until needed.

So there you have it.

I want to thank Surefire again for all the help with my cone problem,

RL

Well, I was talking to angelofwar, but I'm glad they know.
btw, the clips I asked SF for on Tuesday were in my mailbox today. Apparently USPS likes SF, too:cool:

Yeah, It was a user I got off E-bay (FM26), and didn't think SF would cover it...but I only had 4 or 5 SF's at the time, and was still a budding flash-a-holic. And yes, it only took them 3 days from CA to SC to deliver my new tail-cap! At least they admitted the "flaw", and didn't try to play dumb like alot of companies. After my first CS experience, I'm 100% sure they would have sent me a new one!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I feel like a utter dark cloud in this post.

My only experience with surefire has been nothing better than complete and utter bitter disapointment.

I got my surefire m3 after building up to it for quite awhile. It looked and felt fantastic but after 5 minutes of runtime the mn11 exploded in the head assembly! This is with the factory standard surefire issue batteries too.

I contacted surfire several times and they haven't replied.

A week on the m3 simple doesn't work now. The batteries still have plenty of juice and the back up mn10 lamp is fully intact as well. Just won't turn on. I suspect its the tail cap as everything else seems to carry the voltage without any problems

And no surprise, surefire are very quiet. Nothing from them at all.

This sounds to me like a freak situation but unfortunately this is my only surefire experience.

I had a shopping list of parts, accessories and multiple other surefire's I was gonna purchase but I'm not going to spend another cent on surefire until at least they reply to me.

This is probably the worst experience I've had with any military gear. I wouldn't trust this so branded "combatlight" in a water pistol shoot out.

There's a search function up top. I bet you could find a hundred more Surefire threads to whine on, instead of just the 4 that your 4 posts are on. Just think how much attention you could get then.

It seems like a troll account created only to bash SureFire... Not exactly rare around here. Many inferior manufacturers hire people to do these actions in the internet, it's a common business practice.
