Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123's

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

[ QUOTE ]
The Combat Beam is virtually indestructible—underwater tested, and dirt and shockproof... Compare this to a 125 lumens competing light that sells for twice as much!

[/ QUOTE ]

I wonder how long it'll run at the supposed 155 lumens? And I wonder what competitor they are referring to, especially when they're charging $70 themselves. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Note that they say "underwater tested" rather than "waterproof".

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

I think I'll sell my Surefires straight away. These are obviously better products...it says so in black and white.

I think they also offer the 500 lumen LED light which runs off 2 AA's for 100 hours. Submersible to 6 miles, diamond lens, type VII super-d-duper hard anodising. All for 19.95, as seen on TV.

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

don't forget that it can be taken to the outer space. Can travel up to the speed of light. As small as a quantum. Well, maybe too much, but seriously, I did not believe in their claims whatsoever.

It's a shame that there are no mandatory spec standards for these products. Many non-Flashaholics will be taken in, though once in a while a good product emerges like the Nuwai dual action light.

Anyone buying a product on ad copy or package text is asking to be disappointed, flashaholic or no.

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'

Maybe it has a really tiny hot spot or maybe it only runs for five minutes ... I don't know. It does seem like a lot of people are bashing it without any evidence.

I suppose owners of Maglites said the same thing when Surefire entered the market.

It might be a total piece of crap, but don't we at least owe it an unbiased test and review?

Well, at least they are telling the truth here...matter cannot be created or destroyed except for in a nuclear reaction.
Since the "Combat Beam" is made out of matter, I guess they're all going to make you look pretty silly for doubting them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

Ahh yes... Lifestyle Fascinations. We've heard about this company before, not usually very good stuff. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

the lumen claims are non-reflectorized withought doubt, this would certainly account for an exagerated measurement when compared to sf lights, but one wouldn't assume that much.
my guess it the other lumens are just ficticious ones /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

it is possible that they have come up with better lamps...pelican made brighter and more efficient ones..but i don't konw if this company has the resources or knowlege to do so.

analyse this:
"This is the kind of Halogen light military troops and SWAT teams use."
note, it doesn't say the ligth they use, but the kind of light they use /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"underwater tested"
this has been commented on above...very keen /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
"Lithium batteries will power up even if the light hasn’t been used for 10 years!"
this could imply that if the light was used for 5 years, it would turn on 15 years after purchase...also, there is debate on the "shelf-life" of batteries...i take shelf life to mean shelf life...not flashlight-life /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

then, of course there are some outright lies:
"Its blinding beam alone could take out the enemy!!! "
"...the Combat Beam is the best."
"Halogen lighting is the latest technology...."
"state-of-the-art technology"
"Satisfaction Guaranteed"

although...the looks are rather tempting...

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and read most of the descriptions in the "More Lights" link. I think they might be "over stating" their claims...

My favorite is the head lamp.

"Hands-free, always reliable headlight turns night into day - scares a criminal to death!"

I thought light was a less than lethal force...

"There are dozens of reasons you should own this headlamp beamer with adjustable strap. Its 8 LEDs can last a lifetime and they are so bright, they could make an underground cave look like 12 noon on a sunny day."

I think I need to talk to Wayne. My ElektroStar seems to be under performing according to this.

If you look at that second link they have 3 flashlights and each one is the last flashlight you'll ever buy! But which one do you buy

Does anyone else find that this:

looks really like an E2 body with a E2C adaptor?

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

I have ordered one LED light from Lifestyle Fascination. Their products are overpriced for the quality. I don't want to ever order from them again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

I wonder if this LIGHT is the same one? I bought one last year. Mounted on my Mossberg 500. Looks like a copy of a SF 6P. Brighter than a P60, more like a P61. I like it. Price was about $35. They used to carry a 1X123, 2X123 and a 3X123 model. Now only a 2X123 and it is out of stock.

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

155 lumens = 8,000 cp. Now I know there isnt a way to compare the too, 155 lumens and 8,000 cp don't mix. I wonder how many people got suckered into these lights. I also liked how they compared their halogen bulbs to the type high end automobiles use. Its a HID Halogen light! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif

Re: Surefire knock-off claims 155 lumens on 2x123\'s

The 6V is 155 lums, at 8K CP, but the 9V is 201 lums at 16K CP...
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Amazing how you can double the CP and have the same reflector while adding 50% more lumens...
