I almost exclusively use 90s Maglites which unfortunately don't accept the newer adapter xenon bulb. I have a 3C that I would be willing to mod though.

The magnum star bulbs were xenon. The bipins with adapters were Magnum star 2. So the ball I'm talking about is a PR 13.5 base same as the krypton. But quite a bit whiter and brighter. But I have never heard of older lights not accepting the adapter. What is the issue? Is the socket not deep enough or something?
Not available, but here is the bulb. I have a few of them.

I think so I can't push it down in far enough to screw the cap on.
They can take a bit of force, but they should fit. I have never had one not take it. They were meant for all of their pr based lights. I have a very old 3C. And it accepts the adapter. It is a pre- "c" suffix in the serial number

I used to buy those on my first go around on CPF now they are hard to find.
Yeah, I am down to my last two. I have at least 15 hours on one of them though and it's still going strong. Then I will be switching over to a 7212 bulb I got from Tad custom. They fit in the adapter. I much preferred potted bulbs though

I meant to carry the 9P with KX4 today but grabbed the wrong one. I didn't even notice until evening timewhen the tent was noticably yellow.

Hello, I came up on some KX4 shwag....appears to be almost at least 1 complete light....however no manual...Im not sure which end the spring goes and the button will not depress, even though I tried the one spring there. Am I missing parts etc...
can anyone provide a copy of an owners guide please?

Some pictures? The kx4 is just a head. There is no button. And the spring only goes one way. There is no guide and not issues in use. You just screw it tight to a 2-3 cell p,c,z,g etc light. Also, if you don't know surefire very well, if it is a full light, and the tailcap is crewed in all the way, the button will not press at all. It's a twisty tailcap

Pictures would really help us investigate what's going on here

I've got a KX4-BKHA head that came on a g3 I bought on eBay. I didn't want to run it on cr123 or 2xli-ion so I put it on a 6p body with 2x18650 oveready extenders. It's not a pocket light anymore 😁, but using rolled up paper as a sleeve and a 5mm spacer it works on 4xaa. Works with alkaline but I'll try Eneloops next.
I might also try a z44 bezel p60 incandescent on 4xnimh!

That would be pretty neat. A p60 with flat regulation
