When I received my L1 the lanyard ring was ready installed.
I am thinking of removing it. Does anybody know of a
procedure that can easly remove it without damage to the
ring or the flashlight tail cap. I was thinking of making
a jig so that I could apply direct pressure to the ring
pulling it directly away from the tail cap and separating
it into two pieces.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or proven
procedures that work. ...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

use a sharp knife and lever the bottom away from the top part comes off very easily, this has been posted before with a picture which helps, it does not require much effort to seperate

My problem is that the clearance between the lanyard
ring and the side of the tail cap notch is about .003
of an inch. A sharp knife blade is even close. A razor
blade fits, but its to thin to produce any leverage.

I used a pin to pop the ring off my A2. The point probably left a mark down in the gap, but nothing significant. You could use a couple of pins as miniature prybars.

I was able to remove it with a flat blade screwdriver, the small one with a chrome handle. The blade was ground pretty thin and I worked it into the gap and was able to pop it loose. Someone else had posted a picture of the ring, look for that and you should be able to see which way to pry.

If you don't want to keep the ring:

Tighten the tailcap all the way down, nice and snug.

Put a good solid cord in the loop, and PULL.

POP, you're done. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
