Surefire M2 question

Hey I have a quesiton. I have a new surefire M2 centurion. I wondered if anyone could tell me the proper grip for holding it. when i used to have a 6P i would hold it like you would throw a spear with my thumb on the button. But now this M2 has a combat style grip, whatever the hell that is , i can't figure it out. which fingers are the light supposed to go between, and where are you supposed to push the button on? the palm of your hand or the thumb joint? Also, if you had a major adrenelin rush, wouldn't you hurt your hand because you were gripping the darn thing so tight?

You should hold the light between the index and middle fingers, with the finger resting against the flat sides. I hold mine with the clip away from the palm.

The switch is activated by pressing against the thumb joint.

I love the combat grip. If I get excited about something (something moving in the darkness), the light comes on right away without conscious thought. :)

--forgive me but this is more than a little disturbing especially if it's from a New York cop -- you wouldn't be using this same mode of operation with your gun, would you?...

(edited) I see you're not a PO by your profile, but I'll let the post stand.

Here`s how I`ve always held the 9Z (another light with "Combat Grip"), and a regular tail-cap-switch torch. I think I`m doing it right- either way, feels comfortable and easy to get light just when you need it. I modified these grips a tiny bit to make them more open- so the camera can see better. Sorry about them being a bit off-colour, but I hadn`t adjusted the white balance- this room`s full of blue and white LED xmas lights and daylight-white compact flourescent lamps. Makes some things look a bit odd....

Anyone feel free to tell me if this is wrong.....but I`ve not been using the 9Z for a bit and I`m not a LEO either, just a fat bloke who likes torches too much. Those three little expensive batteries inside are on their way out and I don`t have any more yet.

That's the natural way I hold the M2 & M3T SureFires. The CombatGrips are very useful for giving you a grip option that is better for some applications.

When I'm walking home, I hold the M2 down by my side using this grip.

I alternate between grips depending on my illumination requirements. Using the M2 is very natural to me. When I pickup non-SureFires, it sometimes takes me a bitto work out how to use the switch (and where it is!)
