Surefire M2

I have an M3 and like it a lot but is too big to carry everyday.

Those of you who have an M2, how is it for every day carry?

Would you suggest that I go with an E2 instead?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

S.

I have 2 M2's and don't carry either one. E2 is the way to go for EDC. I absolutely love mine. Don't get me wrong...I think the M2 is my favorite of all my SF's (M6, M2's, E2). But the E2 goes more places.
If I were you I would wait a month and get the new E2e. I plan on purchasing one when they're available. I really like the pyrex lens and waterproofness. Also the fact that I would imagine a high output bulb will be coming since the pyrex is in place. But even if it doesn't, I like the fact that the pyrex won't scratch like the polycarb will.

Hope this helps.

Thanks lzrdking I think I will wait for the E2e as you mentioned.

Anyone else with an opinion?

I have two P6's and was about to purchase an E2 when I saw the pix and discription of the E2e and WILL buy it when available. P.S. I saw the Surefire ad in a mag last night and turned the page to my wife and said, this is what you can get me for X-mas, pointing at the M3T. "How much is that?". Oh, it can be had for less than two hundred

. "What is it with you and flashlights?". Anyone heard this before?

I would hear much worse if my wife knew how much my lights cost!

I have the M2 on my belt. I've carried it for months everyday. I wear a suit at work.

To be honest, that M2 is so natural to me, when I don't have it in my hand or on my belt, I get worried.

It should be pointed out that I usually have a jacket, jumper or coating covering the M2, and I don't make a point of letting people see it unless I show them.

Somebody carrying a flashlight on them is rare and I draw attension to myself enough as it is!

Having said that, I'll carry an M3 when I find the right holster. PK has some interesting designs on his site. I hope there is more work done in this area.

Hey lzrdking, wait a month for the E2e? Try more like 2 years.

The E2e is due out in January 2002. I just got the M2 and out of my 24 flashlights (11 of them SF from the E1 to M6) my favorite still has to go to the 6P for EDC. Anyone that has the 6P should invest in the shock isolated bezel for $16. Cheap price to pay for peace of mind if you drop your light.

Not that the cost of the bulb is high, but having the bulb break in the dark is annoying.

The E2 is great for concealed carry if you don't want people around you asking why you carry a flashlight. I get asked all the time because of my 6P on my belt. With the E2 you can slip it in your front or back pocket for concealed carry.

The M2 is a marvel machine but it's too big for EDC unless you want stares and "what's that" all the time. At least the 6P and a nice leather holster looks somewhat presentable, even in Business Casual. An M2 looks like a weapon of some sort.

The M2/M3 and Benchmade Nimravus, now that's the ultimate combo.

The reason why I said 2 years is because that's about how long I've been waiting for the 10X.

You need the Nimravus to go with the M3 & the Cub for the M2. Have you seen the River/Rescue yet?

Good point. I'm watching the Nimravus on Ebay and it looks to be about $100 on average. I gotta get one. The R&R doesn't appeal to me because I don't like the blade tip design. Too fat for my liking. I like the looks of the Stryker and Nimravus. I have 2 CQC7 for collection purposes but the Tanto Blade is a bit too thick too. I may end up getting the R&R to collect.

Of course with the ones I like to use, I always end up getting 2, one for collection and one for use. Same with my SF's.
