I was told today by a flashlight and knife store that Surefire will be making the wine light again, E1 and E2. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

I don't think so!! they can not even keep up with the demand from regular models, yesterday I received my E2O that was on backorder from Surefire itself for TWO MONTHS,
I just ordered over the phone one E1E H A from a store in GA, they said is going to be shipped by the factory in 3 to 4 weeks!!! (I hope it will be that little time)
They trickle some units to the dealers, drop by drop.
I still have an order for a 6-P gun metal for over 2 1/2 MONTHS.
Order for batteries (they are in stock) 3 1/2 weeks.
This is my experience, I am sure others have similiar tales.

The store has E1 in stock and is sending one to me. I put a E2 wine on backorder. I did talk to SureFire about my E2D order and they have E1 wine in stock but no E2, she wasn't sure if they were going to make anymore E2 wine lights. Anything good is worth waiting for. Just look at the waiting list for Mark Levinson audio equipment.

I would assume that if a distributor or dealer placed an order for say, 5000 units of wine lights, that SF would accept the order and place it in the production que. It might be placed in que with some type of priority adjustment. At some point, one could further assume that its time for production would come up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif Given the string of assumptions, I would believe it if some winelights do surface and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't.

Until or unless SF's production catches up to demand, backorders will remain an unpleasant reality. I put in an order for some black L1's about 4 months ago. I finally put in a cancel request but I don't know if that request stuck or not. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif I have left it in the able hands of Murphy and I suppose time will tell; in the mean time, I plan to keep on breathing and not dwell on the uncertainties. I actually don't *need* those L1's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

[/ QUOTE ] I know exactly how you feel. I for one, WILL NOT buy from Surefire again until they can keep up with orders. I'll admit they make a great light, but part of being or having a successful business is having the desire, resources and ability to deliver in a timely fashion. A 3-1/2 week wait for batteries is laughable (SUREFIRE, are you listening?)!

Sorry this post got off track - I should have parked it in Cheers & Jeers, but I had to get this off my chest.

fuelblender,

If enough SF customers adopt your position, SF will likely be in a position *too* catch up with demand. In the mean time, your lack of patronage does reduce some of the presure. Chosing to buy or not to buy that which is not available does seem to be a mute point though? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif Your "non-purchase" for whatever the reason, is a lost sale to SF and I can't help but thinking that they (SF) are doing all that they can to keep this from happening.

OK, my post is totally pointless! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For redemption, a wine light is an E series with anodize in the burgandy, type II finish. It also has the text "WINELIGHT" engraved on the side. (bet I was too slow on this post for this to have relevence either...) EDIT: Hah! I beat the others to it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Like a regular E1e or E2e except they look like:

Not to stray too off-topic, but I received my order of batteries in a little over a week, which was good enough for me (free shipping). YMMV.

[/ QUOTE ]McGizmo, thanks for reading as well as commenting. Surefire supplies massive amounts of flashlights/batteries to law enforcement agencies as well as to the military. I believe that Surefire is placing a greater priority on their big contracts. I'm not saying this is right or wrong but I'm no longer going to wait months for merchandise that other companies can deliver in days.

I agree, if you want a light today there are many good choices other than SF: longbow, pelican, streamlight, inova, etc. There are stores with SF in stock ready to sell to you, not everything but a good selection, Sportsman Warehouse (Western States: Colorado, Utah, Idaho and growing). I had to wait for my ARC products, about a month. Sometimes it is worth the wait for a premium product, everyone has a mag but not everyone has a SF or even fewer with a ARC.

Why is everything on backorder, because of Iraq? Last time I ordered from them was for batteries shortly after they dropped the price to $1.25 and got them promptly. Previously I had ordered twice from them and got the items promptly. The only problem I ever had was getting replacement B90 batteries which took a few months and were just a bad as the originals.

Hey guys,
The subject line kind of invited these OT comments but the original question has yet to be answered! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif If we are going to continue off topic, we might get more participation regarding the content of this thread with a new thread titled accordingly. How about "SureFire Shorts"? Then some body will think the thread is about clothing while others will assume it's about backorders. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Or maybe just change the spelling of wine to whine? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dedhorse.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif

For those that have been waiting for lights for weeks or months... my local dealer (hehe) seems to be a MAJOR stocking dealer. If interested, I could get together some kind of list for people. Or they could contact him directly.

He always seems to have EVERY model available whenever I go by.

On a side note: I was apprehensive about buying my a2 (first surefire) because of bulb cost. I have one now and though it a good idea to get an extra bulb just in case. I called my dealer and immediately got transferred to the top dog. He was amazed that I needed a bulb. He said that in over 1.5 years of selling the a2 they had never had someone come back for a blown bulb (in the a2 that is). Made me feel good.

So let me get back to my question:
Can anyone confirm or deny the question- Is SF making wine lights again?

As for the original question, I don't know if Surefire is making them, but I do know that I saw them listed as being in stock at Meridian Tactical today.
