I'm pretty sure a Pila 168S will pop a P60 LA, (never tried it), but has anyone run a P61 with the 168S? I know 168's should be run with the Pila 3.7V LA but I tried the P61 LA with a 168S cell for a couple of minutes and it worked fine. Anyone tried it long term?

Gene,

The P60 and P61 are designed to run on 6v. Running them with a Pila is underdriving them pretty severely. I'm not a big incand fan, so I can tell you if this will have any adverse effects on the lamps. The saving grace of the Pilas is that they can pump copious amounts of current, which is probably why they look OK to you.

I guess the short answer to your post is that you will NOT flashbulb a P60 or P61 on a Pila, although I'm not sure of other potential adverse effects of underdriving and incand lamp.

Yeah, I guess you're right Tony. I just seem to remember reading a good while back where some guys popped a couple LA's using Pilas.
