I thought some of you might be interested in this. I wanted to be able to choose a specific power level on my U2 before turning it on, so I put a small white elastic band in the groove above the selector ring and made a pointer in one of the small grooves on the the ring itself using Liquid Paper. Then, I put dots on the elastic band with a sharpie indicating at which points the light levels changed. It works really well and if you want it back to normal, just take off the elastic and scratch off the liquid paper with a sharp toothpick.

I like your idea! Rather than liquid paper, which will dissolve with moisture, try using some white enamel for the ring groove.

I'm thinking of getting an o-ring that will fit in the head groove and then use white enamel to paint markers (keeping with the stealth look), based on your idea. :D I could see someone mixing in tritium to make it GITD. ;)

You could use glow powder with epoxy and use black O-ring chunks or round plastic chunks for the black area, works at night too, and a little bit of glow epoxy on the ring itself.
