This may be uniformed salesperson talk, but last night I was at the local (Rochester, NY) Gander Mountain drooling over their Surefire offerings and was told they wouldn't be stocking any more of them. The salesperson told me that Surefire has a new military contract for their lights and so Gander Mountain didn't think they would be able to get any more stock in for a while. He also told me that they wouldn't be picking up any of the newer lights (E1L I asked about specifically) for that same reason.
Anything behind this? Not like I was planning on buying an entire collection at once, but I do like looking at what is available after hearing about it on here. I was also seriously considering an E1E, E1L, or an L1 sometime this year.

You should be able to get the lights you want. Sometimes you just have to be patient. You may not be able to buy them at your local Gander Mountain, but you can find them either on the internet or B/S/T here on CPF.

I've been to this particular store. While the staff is nice enough, there are only one or two salepersons who are willing to learn about the SureFire lights. The rest of the sales staff simply can't be bothered (hey, why try to sell lights that cost that much -- the store might make some money).

There's an older gentleman, Jerry, who is the guy to try to talk with there. He's the only guy I've found who'll take your phone number, get the information, and then call you back. That sounds simple but try to find a sales rep. who'll do that anywhere. We need more Jerry's.

Many brick store fronts that carry the SF line don't know what they've got and couldn't care less, so they'll tell you they don't carry them even if you can see them in the display case. No surprise that many stores stop carrying them. Hope this isn't the case with Gander Mountain.

I would think that a major sporting goods retailer wouldn't sell very many lights, they'd probably be a lot bigger on PT lights and stuff like that. I'd be looking for a gun store or something, myself. .
