Does anyone know where I can buy surge replacement bulbs, preferably cheaply?

Also, is there an alternative bulb that is brighter, longer lasting, or cheaper that can be used in the surge?

Thanks!

Carley lamps is supposed to have some very bright bulbs, in both bi-bin and PR base, but they have a $50 min. order. I would be interested in a group buy. I would spend around 20 bucks to try some of these, but I won't do 50 on my own just to try them out. So if 3 or more of us were willing to spend 20 bucks we could see.

Go here.

Select Star Lamps from the menu for their PR base lamps. The Surge is a T1-3/4, but a T1-1/2 might fit.

Brightguy is the only place I've seen replacements so far too, but to have to pay that much shipping just to buy a spare, I wish I could find one in my local store.

Are the Carley Lamps supposed to be brighter/better than the princeton-tec replacements?

What does the T 1/2 or T 3/4 mean, is that a measurement for the spacing or length of the connectors?

Thanks

The claims made on their website are for a superbright bulb, with extra lifetime, etc. I have never tried their bulbs, but would like to. So my suggestions to do so are experimental in nature only. The Surge bulb is excellent, but I'm always looking for more. I don't know of any other bulb option that might beat that bulb, but I'm no expert in bulbs.

The T size involves the spacing between the leads.

T-size is a designation of bulb diameter separate from base size. It is an actual indication of the diameter of the glass tube used to make the bulb. So T1 = 0.125 inches or 3.175mm and T2 = 0.250 inches or 6.35 mm.

Youcan also have corresponding fractional T sizes. It refers to the wire terminal
or 2 pin only and is somewhat irrelevant for based lamps.
