Swiss Army Knives roll call.

My EDC is a Victorinox Farmer.

Recently ordered a Farmer-X

Should arrive soon.

And (of course),
I also have a few Other models . . . .

SwissChamp, received as a Christmas present years ago... included the 'Survival-Kit' and 'SOS-Set' and came in a black leather 4-compartment belt holster. It is RIDICULOUSLY versatile, with like 33 tools, matches, pen and pencil, drafting paper and the SIS kit includes 45 more. Also has a MAP if the earth surface with magnetic declination for your navigational use, no matter where you find yourself lost.

Weird story-- I have owned three Swiss army knives, bought at various times in my life and then lost, having been misplaced or stolen. After the third loss, I vowed to never again own one, as the universe apparently did NOT want me to have this tool.

Time passed, the river flowed, and I got married. A few years into this new adventure, I received a Christmas present in the mail from my in-laws. The box was about the size and weight of a brick. I of course hefted the package, and mused that "this better not be a Swiss Army Knife, since I cannot seem to own one."

Naturally, I opened the gift on Christmas day and discovered ... a SWISS ARMY KNIFE - and not just a pocket knife, but what I saw as the Granddaddy of all Swiss Army Knives. WITH ALL THE ACCESSORIES! No Swiss soldier, but just about everything else.

THIS one, I will not lose!

Just received a Victorinox Fieldmaster from Amazon.com.

What other Swiss Army Knives do people have?
My most used knife is my Victorinox Rambler. I have been spreading the Rambler gospel for a very long time, at least 15 years. The Rambler is effectively a Classic SD with the caplifter from the Rally added. It has everything I need in my daily life and nothing I don't, and its small size means that people don't get alarmed when I open it in public, and if I need to lend it to someone, I don't have to fear misuse of it.

Although I have not carried a larger SAK in many years, I have been contemplating changing out my larger EDC folding knife, which for the past 20 years has been a Gerber Harsey AirFrame, for either a Victorinox Farmer X, or even better, a pair of custom Victorinox 93 mm Alox knives that would essentially split the features of the Farmer X into two knives and add an inline Phillips driver, the one thing missing from the 93 mm Alox line. The reason is because there are a number of features of the Farmer X that I just don't need in town, but would need in the woods. So, having a separate knife with the large knife blade, the reamer, and the wood saw would make my "in town" knife much lighter.

Victorinox recently undertook a survey of users to ask them what users would like from Victorinox in the future, and one idea that SAK enthusiasts have been popularly asking for is the return of the 84 mm model scissors, so that a Cadet X could be made. That would also make an excellent "in town" knife. Felix Immler documents his discussions with Victorinox over future directions on his YouTube channel, one outgrowth of which was that very same survey. I hope this bears fruit in the coming years.

I'd be happy if Victorinox brought back the Scientist model. Not for collecting, I want to EDC one without paying XXX-rated prices for a used one.

I've had my Victorinox swiss tool with pliers for 25 years and it's a great edc BUT both of the little springs that keep the blades locked when open have broken and disappeared. This happened a dozen years ago and I sent it away to somewhere in New York where they kept it for 6 months to replace them (a 2 minute job? Anyone know where I might source a couple of new springs for this?

I have a decent collection but the one I always carry is a Super Tinker with plus scales.
I find uses for it everyday, more to the point uses find it everyday.

Love the Rambler. It's the best of the small models in my opinion.

The Swiss Champion top left was a 30th birthday gift from my parents 35 years ago. The arrow denotes the broken wood saw blade. I have since sent it to Victornox where they replaced the blade and put new scales on it. I said repair not replace as it had sentimental value. I got the knife back refurbished with the old scales in the package.
I had removed all the removable tools (tooth pick, tweezers and pen and they sent it back with all those replaced. Great job.

I don't use my original SC but use the other big one in this picture above in bottom row. Think its just called the Champion.

Camper VS Hiker ....

WP-20150221-09-30-11-Pro.jpg

Camper has the cork screw and the Hiker has the Philips screw driver ...
So what I have ( as off today ) is one Camper and two Hikers ... Yes , got another Hiker today ... ( Not Camper )
Though , cough cough .. I have an iron in the fire for another Camper !
Picture is a Bad Picture of a NIB Hiker .
Oh and a NEW YJGDCN !

My EDC is an Alox Minichamp in silver. I carry it everyday and use it all the time.
My favourite however has to be my two Swisschamps as they have so many features and tools.
However - my treasured one is this Swisschamp Supertimer with black scales. It has a quartz mini watch built into the scales. I'm told it's rare and ever rarer in black and is an early one. It came to me in the UK in a very poor state from a guy in Canada and has been to Victorinox in Switzerland for a complete restoration and is now perfect. I probably couldn't afford to buy it now!

I want this:

Seriously though, the only multi-tool I have is the Paladin Tools Powerplay PA-6510 (I think that was the model number - could also be the PT-540). Bought it for the brand name as it has been my online nickname for as long as I can remember. Not that I actually needed the tool at the time...or have ever used it since apart from the first try. ^^

But we have a several Victorinox knives in the house. A bread knife, plenty of table forks and knives. Bought my mother a 12-piece set of blue Victorinox cutlery some years ago, as well as one table knife in each of the different colours (except the red one - couldn't find it, and the complete set was unavailable), to replace the old black (and very dull) ones she had.

EDIT:
Whenever (read: "if" - I'm a PC nerd) I go camping, the one tool I bring with me is a Gerber LMF-II knife.
Sorry all swiss army knife lovers, I need something larger and more reliable to get that fire wood.

The reviews on that Wenger Giant are highly entertaining. 😂
