I love my 4sevens quark smart, my only disappointment is that it drains cells sitting out. I wonder if it's a drain from the flashing light from the side button. Who knows but it's a great light.

Regarding the titanium Mark III, my titanium Mark II experienced so much spalling in the threads that I was compelled to sell it. (Mine was one of the limited-edition, factory heat-treated rainbow finished models, and the buyer was a collector who knew all about spalling but wanted the rainbow finish to complete his collection, spalling be damned.)

Regardless, does your light turn easily? If so, how did you overcome the spalling issues titanium twisties are knows for?

I have a couple of 47s legacy TI, the first thing I did was to clean the crap outta the threads with some deoxit gold, wiped it clean, then lubed the lower threads only with nyogel 760g. Ran the threads a couple times, wiped off the nyogel, put new nyogel, and repeated until the threads were smooth. I dunno if i was supposed to let an oxide layer form on the threads first, but it got alot of the grittiness out of it.

It's bugged me for a long time and I finally got around to cutting the tail cap shroud off my Quark tactical to make the switch boot accessible like a real tactical tail cap.

I'm going on a trip to Jackson Hole WY next week and wanted something I could carry in my pocket that could be easily operated with gloves on.

The threads are butterly smooth.
I too have several MKII Titanium's. I had posted a video years back on how to help smooth the older models threads.

As others said the main cause was debris left behind by the factory. My take was to work the threads using a downward motion and then a pulling motion to work both side of the threads bearing surfaces. Titanium metal is susceptible to galling (a cold welding of sort), without proper lubrication it can develop and make it very difficult to remove the galling debris.

I've got one on the way, been waiting forever for the Ti Preon to make a comeback.

There were reports over on the Facebook page that someone camped out last night in front of the Darksucks office waiting for the drop. That wouldn't happen to be you was it??

Remember these?

They're the only offerings to have both the Prometheus and the Foursevens logos on them.
I most certainly do.
My New 2023 Ti P1 kit is in transit west to east.

The Promethean GAW's have shipped!
Fingers crossed we will have our first official GAW soon.
I think everyone will enjoy, especially those that win.

Yep, I'm really excited for mine to arrive. The last Ti. Preon drop was way back in 2018.

Still got my original titanium Preon from way back. For years and years now, I've worn it attached to a neck lanyard under my shirt, as a last-ditch emergency backup, with a lithium primary AAA installed.

Still looks pretty good, considering! Just a few rub marks that aren't too noticeable.

(the yellow string is high strength fishing line, kevlar or something I think; it's just as a back up to the clip in case it ever comes unclipped from the lanyard)
