Thanks for the info, and yikes on the finger surgery. I'm hoping your recovery goes well.
So far it is going very well. Had to have 2 splint adjustments that have made all the difference. I wouldn't be going through any of this if I had gone to the current hand specialist surgeon I have now, instead of the orthopedic surgeon(hack), in the first place. This started back December 2022, and it is a Night and Day difference in quality of care.
Thank You for the support and kind words.

Apologies out to everyone for my off topic replies and postings.

Been a while.
In this thread it was The New Quarks in 2019 and the refined 2nd run MXS 2021.

In this thread_ Exactly! The MXS, the MX3F, and the new Preon ONIBI were/are all excellent lights. Each should have had its own new release thread.

I know there were a handful of CPF members crap-posting on some of the new releases a few years back, but that's not a good reason to ignore the rest of us Foursevens Fanboys here at Foursevens-CPF.

OK. Rant over. Thanks for reading this far.

I be diggin mine the most! 👍👍

...............................................

On the MX3 Flood, did you try the wider optic that came with the light? I was wondering if there was still a distinct hotspot or if it is mostly uniform.

When trying to illuminate something for photos using a flashlight, the difference between spot and spill becomes really noticeable.

So far the Lumintop EDC AAA and AA twisties are the only lights I've found that have a completely smooth beam (they use a "pebbled" TIR optic)

Yes, the wider optic is the only one I've used in the light. Below are daylight pictures sans and utilizing the MX3F.

The MX3F was held about three feet from the picture.

I'll take a picture tonight after it's dark if you think it'll help. Obviously, taking beam shots is not my forte. 😄

Awesome, thanks. The uniformity of the beam should be pretty obvious to tell (one way or the other) if you take a shot of something with the flashlight as the only light source. A throw-oriented light will cause the image to have a blown-out (too bright) center, the rest will be too dark. Think of Self-Built's white wall shots.

( I learned this the hard way trying to take photos inside blacked-out areas with a flashlight; I'm kinda embarrassed looking back at some of those photos now! )

Oh I forgot to ask earlier; one more thing, does the MX3F use pulse-width-modulation (PWM) for the lower modes? I had read that some of the Prometheus lights used PWM so that had me concerned.

There isn't a hot spot when using the wider optic, nor do I detect any PWM. But that's not a definitive no. Perhaps Got Lumens? will pop in soon with an answer.

Cool; I appreciate the info. The PWM seems to bother me more than it used to. Don't know if I've gotten more sensitive to it, or just more picky! Maybe both...

I will check on that and update, but as far as I am aware, it's a really high frequency Pulsed Wave that's nearly undetectable.
I know the Icarus drivers are that way in the custom Alpha's and Delta's.
PWM irritates my eyes now also.

This Quark was recently offered on eBay. Does anyone knows how the finish was achieved?

View attachment 44992

The seller listed it as - matt titanium.
It looks Cerakote'd to me in the photo. It could've been bead blasted and then stone(walnut) washed.
Just stone washing creates a deeper hue of color and usually smooths out the knurling on the tail,
head, and body a tad bit. Is the knurling sharp and crisp?

CG, could You post a picture of the threads with the head removed and or the inside of the body?

What is the interface of that light?

The material can be determined by weighing the empty battery tube. Titanium is slightly heavier
than aluminum.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall a run of QK16L Ti lights like the one in your photo.
The QP2L's have a shorter head. It's possible it could be a prototype.
I need to see a pic of the threads, inside the head, and or a peek in the interior of the battery tube.
