Hi

This thread is to discuss the BlackHawk M6 Pouch.

What I'd like to know is:

Who has one and what do you use it for?

Where did you get it, and do you know of any Dealers with stock?

Are there alternatives? Do people use them?

I currently have one M6 Pouch. It fits the M6, the TigerLight 8", the 9AN+KT3, the M3T or other three SF123A 2.5" TurboHead models. I find it very useful but have had great difficulty in getting a couple more.

Thanks!

15s,

I'll have a SOE M6 pouch by early next week. I'll let you know how that goes.

I went for the SOE simply as BHI does not have this item in OD Green, which I need for the woods.

So far, I've been more than satisfied with my other SOE SureFire carriers (one for my Z2 [with C2 bezel, carried tip down with lanyard], another for my C3 [tip up, fitted with modded 5W KL3]).

I'm still not certain yet when my M6 is going to get in yet, as it's backordered through TW.

You might wabt to cross-post this to both Lightfighter's and Strategos. The LF guys are going to be inherently less receptive of the BHI than the SOE out of name/reputation alone, but they're fair and good guys with operational or other hard-use experience.

Later!

Al,

I've been using the Blackhawk for my M6 and Tigerlight quite frequently. The Tigerlight is a tighter fit, but basically OK. I'm happy with this holster.

It's a few bucks cheaper here:

I have one and am glad I got it. A local dealer here in Germany has some on stock as he told me. I did email you once about it as I knew you were looking for some. I don't know any alternative holster for the M6. S.O.E. was supposed to make a holster but I have never seen it and don't know how it performs. The good thing about the Blackhawk holster is - as you already mentioned - the flexibility to use it with different lights. M6, 9N, 9AN(KT), 9PT do fit inthere quite good even though the lights with smaller diameter are kind of loose but still very secure. Overall I am very happy about the money spent for this one.

I have one. My M6 resides in it. I got it along with my M6 from Mr.Bulk some time ago. It has to be the best solution for the M6 so long as the tailcap is locked out.

Here are the SOE Pouches, alot of folks seem to swear they are much more durable than the Blackhawk gear, but I wouldn't know as I have never owned either. I am interested in finding out more about the Blackhawk Surefire Accessory Pouch that belts on horizontally (for my M3) and has battery loops, anyone have any experience here?

As a tactical-gear enthusiast, I can say that yes, indeed, most of the real-world "high-speed, low-drag" military operators and high-risk LEOs seem to have a much heavier preference for SOE gear versus BlackHawk.

Durability and overall quality are objective points, but there's also undeniably a bit of patriotism (much of BHI's gear is made overseas; their tactical vests, for example, are now made in Vietnam, among other places, and this does not sit well with many in the community) as well as distain for BHI's high-budget commercialism and advertisement as subjectives.

SOE's gear is typically seen as true "top of the line," with Surefire's own instructors using their vests. Meanwhile BHI's is typically seen as second-rate at best.

In normal non-Mil/LEO "everyday" use, however, I highly doubt that anyone here will wear through BlackHawk's gear.

I thought, tgs, that this was simply their Shotshell pouch doing double duty?

If this is so, then let me know, 'cause I can then measure my Shotshell pouches for ya.

Are there Dealers with stock of the SOE M6 Pouch in Black?

When I got myself a BHI M6 Pouch I don't believe SOE offered an alternative. It would be very interesting to have one of each...

15s,

Man, you're like the biggest Surefire-a-holic that I know!

Back to the topic, I don't know about your corner of the globe -- my friends here who are gear enthusiasts typically buy direct from SOE....

You might want to try the UKAN Airsoft Forums -- there's a good bunch of gear enthusiasts who hang out there in the "Gear" Sub-Forum:

http://www.ukairsoft.net/

Hopefully, they'll be able to point you in the right direction....otherwise.

PS: I wouldn't be surprised if they're the exact same design...one's likely to have copied the other, which is a known "issue" in the tac-gear community. I'd look for thread/stitching count, etc...subtle differences. I went with the SOE solely because I needed it in OD Green, which BHI doesn't offer.

Allen,
Thanks.
I will check out SOE direct.
Getting stuff shipped to me is not as big a deal as getting stuff in the first place! That's why I'd prefer to buy from a Dealer with stock if possible and have them ship direct or if that is not possible, via a friend in the States.

Cheers

Al, no problemo on the SOE pics! I've heard that dealing with SOE direct is a pleasant experience and I also seem to remember either a rep. or the owner of SOE registering here at CPF and posting that any of the SOE flashlight pouches could also be ordered with Velcro instead of the side release buckles, for those who prefer it.

Allen, I think that the Surefire Accessory Pouch is actually longer than the shogun shell pouch and only has six battery loops and a long battery tube for a full length battery, but thanks for the offer to measure. I have heard that the main issue with the Blackhawk gear is not the country of manufacture neccessarily, but that the trademarked "Nytaneon" material they use and the stitching is not as durable as the Cordura products of other manufacturers. I for example have a Camelback Motherlode pack that is pretty much indestructable yet made in the Philipines of Cordura coated fabric and sewn to Eagle Industries (the source of the military Camelbacks) specs. Very tough but made from the right stuff and well engineered.

I must admit to having a preference for US manufactured goods myself, but there is still some good stuff coming in from abroad that can't be ignored.

I can confirm this one myself.

They may not reply to e-mails too fast by modern standards, but over the phone, they're friendly, courteous, professional, and even downright fun whether you're Mil/LEO or a civvie collector/airsofter like me.

Ah! Now that I re-read the descripion on-line, I see!

Yep, like I mentioned above, this is one of the objective reasons -- mostly durability issues.

Yep, and that was the subjective. But for those guys, I think that their feelings run much deeper and stronger.

Definitely not going to argue this one -- agreed!

I bought BlackHawk M6 Pouch as it was the only pouch for M6 at the time I got my M6. I would say that the nylon materials used is very thin. It's the thinnest materials I've ever seen/got for flashlight pouch- may be more or less the same as the one for Mini Mag.

Alan,

That sounds different from mine. I am pleased with the quality of the BHI M6 Pouch I have. My next pouch will be from SOE though.

My Blackhawk/M6 is on my belt right now. It's strong and sturdy but doesn't have double stitching up the sides as the SOE appears to have. As a cilivian who uses the M6 occasionally I believe the BH is more than adequate and the less military appearance is a plus in my circumstances.

If I carried the M6 often under abusive conditions I'd opt for the SOE.

The one I got doesn't look like the one in the pict above. Mine doesn't even have reinforcement nylon on the flip cover like the one in the pict. I guess mine is pretty old version.
