Nck Name Darth Vader 🙂

No, this is not about India & China, a book on Amazon regarding to the impact to American economy due to the rise of these two countries.

This is about a crazy man's rendition of a crazy flashlight that Throws...

The "Elephant" is a 3x18650 Fat Body, a DIY creation as seen here:
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?341778-FM3X-UT-with-CBT-90-amp-Home-made-Elephant

The "Dragon" is the Aspherical head of Fly Dragon, the largest Aspherical head available from a production light. Mag D head was grind down into an adaptor to covert it for mag Use as seen before, details here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?280670-Enter-The-mag-Dragon-Beam-shots-added

The Switch section of the mag was cut & used to connect the Elephant & the Dragon, with a 12V blue plasma Vandal switch. The light is the one on the Right of the picture.

The light Engine is already done, XML U2 on Copper PCB with Trustfire X6 SST-90 12V Driver, copper heat sinked for Mag D tube.

What's reaming to finish up are all the wirings, including re-wire the parallel 3x18650 carrier into serial configuration to deliver 12V.

Stay Tuned 🙂

Just completed the wiring of the head:

I thought that the only things left is reworking the carrier. But no, the new version of the elephant host came with a new type of carrier making it much harder to re-wire to 3S from 3P.

I am going to re-config the 3S carrier from DRY 3T6 instead, as a result, it'll be 1/2 inch shorter, thus, it'll be necessary to cut down the body again, but in the end, it'll be worth it as shorter body will make the light even more compact & looks closer to the geometry of original FM Elephant.

Here are the last two steps:

Added a copper ring on top of the DRY carrier to route the battery Negative up there.
Also cut the elephant body down about 1/2 inch.

Group photo of contestants for the up coming beam shots Battle in the Wood III: The Elephants vs. The Foxes:
All are 3x18650 format except FF3. (left to right FF1 35W HID, Elephant FM3H CBT-90 9A, Elephant FM3V CBT-90 15.5A, Elephant Dragon XML U2 6.5A & FF3 40W HID)

I have almost no flashlights left, except very few must keep including the Darth Vader, finally I managed to de-dome the XML cleanly to increase the lux further:

It came out pretty well, the lux went up from 280klux to 468 Klux, I think it might be worth trying adding a Weiven Collar? I maybe able to get it up to DEFT X level of throw but with a 2x bigger spot, since DEFT-X is XPG2 de-dome , this is based on XML de-dome,

You're back!

Good increase with the dedome. Waiven will be interesting.

FYI - we spoke earlier (I bought your 1C XPG) about FM big heads and XML/XPG.
I have found very good results with FM 2 inch deep reflector. Almost as good as 2.5 Throwmaster.
(using the vers with 12.7mm opening so can only use small star...)

Glad you found good results!

I am not really back 🙂, just to apply some recent progresses toward the very few lights I still have. The good news is, Waiven started selling the collar on it's own now, for $49, anyone can try to apply it toward their good old aspheric lights, I ordered one, curious to see how much improvement it could give.

I made my own ma sha1 inspired light. I also saw the $49 Wavien collar and thought about adding it. The body is obvious, the head is from a Jobsmart light from Tractor supply, connected by a short section of mag tube, lenses is KD 78mm. Driver is the 6.5A(more like 5.5A) sst-90 from DX. XML2 on copper.

I wish I could build my own Mr. Mayhem but I don't think I will ever find a head without buying the entire light.

Also what size Wavien Collar did you order?

Looks great! What's the lux you get? Did you de-dome it?

For the Wavien Collar, I ordered the small one, as it says ID 25mm & OD 32mm, which would fit into a Mag-D based neck, the other two looks much bigger.

I was thinking the small collar as well since the others are to big for my light. As for lux I have no may to measure it but I think now may the time to get a meter. No I haven't dedomed it yet, but think I will when I get the wavien.
