The Grammys 2025

I've had enough of the style of misery of the 1930s since the end of the 1990s, in America. I'd like to experience some decadency, and a bit of harmless debauchery A.K.A. 1920s style. With better grades of alcohol than what they offered back then. Was it, wow! Yes, back at the tail end of the 1990s that I attended the last Speak-Easy in Manhattan. Obviously by then it was a novelty experience. Nothing more. Hod-dog business with a blacked-out store-front to the left of it. Very expensive hot-dogs sold at what looks like the main business.

Actual phone-booth inside that if you step into it, and pick up the phone, part of the phone-booth wall swings open. Welcome to the speak-easy next door. Plenty of partying and booze.

Truth is, no clue if it's still open/still there. Was able to claim to be the very last speak-easy on Manhattan Island. But again reduced to a novelty. My buddy Dan used to have a studio apartment nearby back then. Paying insane amounts of money every month for a roomy box. One set of windows only and those overlooked a brick wall. He was a contract lawyer for years in Las Vegas. Swore he was home, would never move out. But Danny being who he really is, followed the God of money. He's now in charge of the Lottery commission in New Hampshire. Bored out of his skull, no doubt. But that's where his god told him to go and worship him. Sorry.... Seemed to have rambled off a bit there.
