Re: The Lounge

Great beamshot NL. I love the E14. No hot spot, super low moonlight and yet a mini powerhouse when needed.

This is my favorite nightstand light.

Re: The Lounge

Yep pretty cool little quad it is. I gave one of the cheaper S41S lights to my sister for Christmas. Couldn't afford an E14 but she don't know Manker from Shinola.

Re: The Lounge

Did you go up Angeles Crest to take the picture . Great shot bro!

I went to Eaton Canyon. That shot is from the mt Wilson toll road on the way to henninger flats. Its' crazy how bright the city lights are, even from that distance.

It was crazier watching the 4th of July activities from there too! I heard Griffith was another awesome place to see July 4 fireworks but I tend to avoid large crowds.

Re: The Lounge

Does anyone know how to convert yards or meters to lux?
sometimes companies don't state how many kcd their light throws, and just in meters and yards.

Throw in meters = square root of (candela divided by 0.25)

Candela = 0.25*(throw^2)

I know my m3xs-ut is 250,000 cd and 1000m, so if I try to remember the formula and it doesn't calculate to this, I know I've got the wrong formula.

LIGHT OUTPUT CALCULATIONS

Lux = candela / distance in meters * distance in meters
Foot-candles = candela / distance in feet * distance in feet
Foot-candles = Lux / 10.764 = lumens/sq. meter
Lumens/sq. ft. * 1 = foot-candles
Lumens/sq. ft. * 10.764 = lumens/sq. meter
Lumens * 0.07958 = spherical candle power
Lux * 0.0929 = foot-candles
Lambert * 0.3183 = candles/sq. cm
Lambert * 295.720 = candles sq. ft.
Lambert * 1 = lumens/sq. cm
LIGHT BEAM CALCULATIONS
Beam diameter = distance * (2 * tan (beam angle / 2))
Throw distance = Square root ((horizontal dist. * horizontal dist.)
+ (vertical dist. *
vertical dist.))
POWER CALCULATIONS
Power = Voltage * current (Watts = Volts * Amps)
Current = Power / Voltage (Amps = Watts / Volts)
RMS Volts = 0.707 * Peak Volts RM
S Volts = 1.11 * Average Volts
LIGHT ICAL CALCULATIONS
Foot-candles * 10.764 = lumens/sq. meter = lux
Lumens/sq. ft. * 1 = foot-candles
Lumens/sq. ft. * 10.764 = lumens/sq. meter
Lumens * 0.07958 = spherical candle power
Lux * 0.0929 = foot-candles
Lambert * 0.3183 = candles/sq. cm
Lambert * 295.720 = candles sq. ft.
Lambert * 1 = lumens/sq. cm
DC VOLTAGE DROP OF CONDUCTOR (cable) OF L LENGTH
V = voltage drop, I = current
R = resistance of conductor per 1000 feet
L = length of conductor in feet
R for 18awg = 6.51, 16awg = 4.09, 14awg = 2.58
12awg = 1.62, 10awg = 1.02, 8awg = 0.64
V = I * L * (R / 1000) * 1.004
