the wife took the dog for an evening walk, so she picked a light from my active collection ( those lights that are primed and ready to go, in other words have batteries in them ) and after hesitating between the SureFire EDCL1-T and the Acebeam Rider Rx TI she picked the latter.
Well, after she arrived home she huffed and puffed as to how freaking hot that darn thing is, sooo I've put the good ole brain cells to use and built her a similarly small, but more reliable, and better heat-regulated flashlight.

Behold, the Malkoff MD1 ZFL M60!
( currently runs on a Nitecore RCR123 for maximum output )

But jokes aside, after your experiment with the KAC I started trying them on on various lights and for this build it came out great!

Yessir! Clip for the Mag-TAC.

It actually works the best on the Malkoff tailcap. No trimming, no modifications needed and it holds very nicely.

After seeing the post above, I ordered three of them from WM for the same price as on Mag's website, but with free shipping. There wasn't a minimum order required.

the M91BN runs full power on a single Li-Ion cell...? When will it drop out of regulation..? I see that at 2.25 hours the battery protection kicked in, so it's down to 3.2 volts? but that would make it work between 9v to 3v...? What am I missing?

At some point the driver was updated, but the website wasn't. I ran the M91 on 2 X AA Lithium Energizers for about 60 hours.

No not at full power. Maybe 500-600 lumens. It shows this in the runtime graph.

oooooh gotcha I missed the MD2 and MD4 distinction on the graph:

So with two li-ions it runs in the 800-900 range and with a single one it's somewhere around the 400 lumen mark, just like a M61.
Basically it's a M61 with the possibility to run in a 9V configuration if I understand this correctly. This does make me wanna put it in a MD2 with two RCR123s

My HDS with Samsung 5000K at 300L doesn’t appear much brighter, but that’s just eyeballing it. Probably closer to 150-200L

M91b is the best, it’s just a fact!

I just got the thyrm LPC for my md2. Good fit, solid clip.

Single li-ion in M91b is noticeably brighter that M61 on one or two. M61 can run 9v. M91b can run 12. And I don’t know why you’d want to run two rcr’s in MD2 unless that’s all you had.
