I ran my M91T on one cell versus M61T, also on one cell and the difference was minimal. Actually barely noticeable. I think M91T was brighter by what seemed like 50 lumens. My latest-greatest M91T has ugly tint while M61T, about 4 years old, is beautiful.
M91T seems was made to be run on 2 cells, only then does it begin to shine.

I wonder if I should compare M91T versus M61T on dual cells. But then again, MD4 is so much more problematic to EDC versus MD2. With any module. MD3 is compact enough but I detest 18500 cells.

I have a rule. Any body should have a Malkoff module that should accommodate all possible battery permutations. That's why I do not run M61T or M61 in MD4. Because MD4 can take 4x123 which would burn up these modules, but not M91T. The whole point of MD4 is that you can use any battery combo. Li-ion or 123s.

You can stick M61T in an MD4 as I have with M91T but at some point get confused and stick 4x123 in the wrong MD4 and burn up the module. That's why I only ran M61T in MD2 or MD3, when I had it.

That's why I like M91T. It's not just badder, brighter, with higher lux than M61 permutations. It can also take 4x123 which can be important. I got some in my bug-out TSHTF bag. When you can't mess with recharging.

The new 3.7-9v MDC heads are awesome, for example the 16650 body will run all of these. It will even run a single CR123 primary with lower output levels, great for around the house at night or backup battery source

With all the talk of the need for throw, lumens, lux, and candela of late, I reflect on the sheer usefulness of my wifes MDC 1cr123. Plenty of options for 99% of our needs.
Reality I choose to ignore.

BTW, can I safely run a rechargeable in this model? If so, which works the best?

No! The voltage limit is 2V-3.2V, much lower than the common working limit for a li-ion cell.

One more question. I have three MD's and one Hound Dog with a Tricap. I still find it difficult to pick up any of them with an ice pick grip and actuate the switch. So, which manufacturer of tailcap switch will give me a reliable, easy press on/off without dislocating my thumb? Tail standing is not needed on this light.
The tricap is better but not near perfect.
This option is probably just going to be used on the one chosen for bedside duty.

Surefire Z41 with knurling and unshrouded button should provide a good grip with two fingers, then having it be unshrouded will make it very easy to activate the switch

Those are nice. Looks like it would be very comfortable to grab and put in hand. Personally I really like the Malkoff Tricap, I think it works very well. Especially with no clip installed

I have the same complaint with Malkoff tailcaps - I really wish Gene would make a semi-shrouded version of his standard tailcap.

Sounds like there are two of us with an uncooperative thump joint. I too have contacted Malkoff looking for options as the TriCap is less than desirable. While on the phone I asked if anyone else has suggested a few shallow groves in the heads would one-handed rotation with gloves would be a bit easier. I solved that myself by unscrewing the head just a bit so I could pull back just a fraction and jump from low to high quickly.

Thanks for the heads up on the Lumens Factory option. I only use Keepower button top protected in my lights so that is a no-go. I am trying to keep this body and tailcap all the same diameter so a lot of offerings are not working for me.
I am awaiting a response from Oveready as they also have a quality product offering but I do want to make sure they will work without any modifications to my MD's.

On lights with tough to push switch buttons I use my thumb if I want momentary and fingertip if I want full time light.
