I have had the same experiences when presenting questions to the Malkoff family which is why I continue to find another reason to buy an additional light from them.
As for the tail switch, it is really not a big deal for me and if I could ever get Oveready to respond to one of the two e-mails I sent them two weeks ago, I think they have a solution for one of my MD2's that I want to use for a different purpose.

Any suggestions on how to reattach the battery spring to the switch? I don't think it's broken. There has to be some way to reattach it.

No, it is just their aluminum tailcap.. i had a couple of questions and have yet to receive an answer. Their customer service is out of touch with what people today want.

DiamondBack Aluminum TailCap – NATURAL

I wanted to know if it would work reliably in an MD2 body?
Is the "natural" color a raw aluminum with a coating?
Will they be getting in the black version anytime soon?

Although I will appreciate any part of your answer, I will never order anything form a company that does not promptly respond to an email.

About a decade (maybe longer) or so ago, I purchased the first gen Hound Dog when it came out. My phone rang around 7pm a few nites later. It was Gene asking how I liked his new model flashlight. We chatted for awhile. Fantastic.

I saw the pics you sent to @kerneldrop regarding; the Malkoff tail cap switch. I just don't see how to reattach the battery spring to the switch itself. Is it even possible to fix this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just get a Surefire tailcap off ebay.

I haven't seen them restock P60 stuff in a while.
I'm surprised they have that orange P60 host.
They claim to do their own machining, but they can't get raw materials...so i dunno.

It doesn't look broken. Do you know how the black plastic spring housing attaches to the switch body? Is it glued or does it snap in place somehow? Thanks.

I agree that's frustrating. I've had good interactions with them in the past, so I'd be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt that they just missed it. Happens sometimes.

"Natural" refers to the grayish colored anodizing. It's the same as the same type III anodizing as the black version, just without the black dye.

Oveready tailcaps, and pretty much every 6P compatible mcclicky tailcap, will "kind of" work on MD2s. I say kind of, because they thread on and seal exactly the same but they typically have more of the switch mechanism sticking into the body, so they have the effect of shortening the battery compartment. If you use unprotected 18650s that's probably fine, but longer battery setups may not work. I've used switches from Vinh over at Skylumen which are shorter than the mcclicky and hence allow you to run SF tailcaps on MD2s without shortening the battery compartment.

Thanks @knucklegary. That is a perfect diagram and explanation. Looks like all four posts on the black switch body have sheared off. Making it impossible to snap the battery spring in place. I wonder how that happened. This light has been very lightly used and I'm very careful when I do use it.

You right.
Malkoss tailcaps have an extra ~2mm of room compared to a Surefire tailcap on a Malkoff body.
Malkoff is ~67mm from bottom of spring to head, Surefire tailcap is ~65mm from bottom of spring to head.

I believe in your case, not dropping, it can also happen with plastic fatigue and/or too much spring pressure constantly on the switch.

Store idle lights (batteries installed okay) just back off at least a full turn..

Also, make sure to keep oring bumpers tucked in around the contact spring, it helps for those inevitable "ahhh sh*t" drops..

Hard core users like @kerneldrop can attest to this dropping syndrome. He uses straps to grip his Malkoff in one hand, with a Sig in the other..

This is why I replace all my clickies with twist on/off tailcaps.
Failure is not an option in my EDC use.

I have 6 of these laying around and I do believe drop-ins will fit inside them. (4 or 2 pronged tool needed to get lock-nut off the back-end...

Wonder if anyone ever made an adapter for Surefire heads to fit a Malkoff MDx body?
