Kosen/Malkoff FFL emitters. Can't wait for the 5000k MDC

I would definitely think so. He said next MDC they were leaning towards the 5000k. Just not sure which variation.

I'm gonna assume he's gonna use these leds. These in 5000k are way nicer than 519a 5000k so I'm thrilled

Wow! The tint on it really pops compared to the Nichia. I don't really need another M61 but temps >4500k is something I don't have. Sigh *unvelcros wallet*

This is me right now.

Why did I check this forum?

"Eh, I don't need an M61 like that....But...I don't have any of those emitters..."
I placed an order for one earlier today. I'll post beamshots as soon I receive it. I may or may not have also bought another VME head and MD2 body and tailcap. 🤫

What's the claim to fame for this emitter? I'd seen some stuff pop up here and there, but it was in like 1800K, so I kind of thought it was just a really warm CCT emitter. From some cursory looking, it looks like it's mostly just a high CRI emitter. Am I missing anything? If it has a similar CRI to the 519A, but a less aggressive hotspot, that alone would kind of have me one board. 5000K is kind of my upper limit for CCT.

All I really know is that it's domeless and is throwy, I'd still prefer Nichia, but couple of these FFL's have my interest

The Bodyguard v1 arrived yesterday. It has the old style 123 body. It's quite impressive and very well thought out. I was surprised by the small size of it. The grip is very good despite its small size.

The clip is a bit too strong I think. With the grip ring it's almost impossible to use the clip. Can the clip be softened? Or is there a softer aftermarket clip?

I also got a VME head (just to try it out). The 123 body & battery, the VME head and the M61WLL dropin make a very useful light. Just simple on and off with a suitable output for most tasks.

With my next order I'll get a new style 123 body. I can then decide if I like the old or new style body better for the Bodyguard. The other body will take the VME head / M61WLL.

I'd be greatful for a hint what's the best way to loosen the MDC clip a bit without losing the screws.

Take it off completely and don't lose the screws. Two different lengths on the screws. Make sure they go back in the same way. One holds switch in place. Wrap some tape around pliers and use them to bend the clip without marring

There's a guy on Etsy that makes a shorter deep carry clip for MDC lights. I bought one from him and it's nice. My MDC cr123 light rides nice and low in my pocket now.

I read about a trick of inserting credit cards between the clip and the body and leaving them there for a bit to loosen the clip up. Not sure if it makes sense that it would work or not without quite a few cards inserted but it seemed less likely to damage the clip vs other forceful methods. Useless if it doesn't work though.
