I really like my 18650 HD XT. But also really glad I grabbed a standard 18650 HD when they were available. It's much better at closer work. It's got great spill but also some pretty good reach to it. But when I want to really see what's out there a ways I take my XT. The throw on that is nuts!

I put this in another thread but thought it may be helpful for folks searching Malkoff stuff in general.

Beamshots:

M61N
Elzetta Bravo on CR123 and 16340s
M61HOT
Surefire EDCL1-T on CR123 and 16340
Hound Dog 18650 XT No Diffuser

I don't know if people like these, but I would like to be able to find them better on the internet sometimes so, boom, posting them.

More to come, can take requests if people do like them.

Great stuff there! That 18650XT is fantastic.I run mine with no filters as I'm looking for throw. The rings do not bother me at all.

I completely agree TG. The hotspot on the XT is big enough to see what you need, and adding the diffuser just neuters it too much. Rings don't bother me and that light surprises me every time I use it. Love the throw and small package. Great stuff for sure.

I am considering the XT, or wait and see if an M61T with the same LED becomes available.

Would the hypothetical new M61 with the new LED become the M61HOT and then the current HOT be pushed to M61T? Or think it would just be called the M61XT(D)?

I think it would need a TIR instead of the OP reflector. The scout lights even have larger than typical heads with TIR lenses in them.

I am interested for sure and would welcome such an addition.

M61T flat white is in the works once the other LED is exhausted.
I wish I knew when that time will come. seems soon.

Can anybody take a side-by-side pic of the MDC 16650 and 18650 bodies? Curious about difference in diameter and in length.

Can someone who has a Wildcat V4 chime in and give me your opinion on it? Maybe a comparison between that and other versions. Thanks.

The V4 throws further than the V6. It does have a hot spot with a wide flood. The V6 is all flood. I have a V1, V3, V4 and V6 Wildcats. My V3 is my most used Wildcat.
V1 is a spot light. The V3 has 3 reflectors, the V4 has the same with a diffuser. It has a soft hot spot.

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought I had a V3. Mine is a neutral, one of Malkoff's best tint's. Either way, it's a keeper.

Isn't V2 V3 V4 all triple reflector?

This is my understanding ...

WCv1 = 4x optic
WCv2 = 3x reflector
WCv3 = 3x optic / diffuser
WCv4 = 3x optic / diffuser / current bump
WCv5 = 1x reflector
WCv6 = 1x optic

And yes, those WCv2 did have an incredible tint :D
