It turns out that a lumens factory EO-9 bulb fits in a malkoff head, so I popped it in the md3 and away we go. Yet more points to the md3's versatility. It wouldn't work if the retaining ring was tightened all the way so I had to back it off a little. The hi/low switch didn't add any extra functionality.

The lens didn't seem to like the bulb so much. If I do this again I'll need a glass lens, but good thing I have spares. This was fun but it's back to the m91bn hi/low crenelated head for work tomorrow.

I'm wondering if a surefire p90 might make a happy match for st. Incand's day?

I've been admiring MD3, but I don't understand something: why does the tailcap seem so tall? Looks like it could fit a cell by itself. Can anyone show me what MD3 looks like with a z41? I know the dimensions of z41, so it would help me get my head around the body dimensions. TIA.

Thanks, thermal guy. MD3 is really compact. It doesn't look much longer to me than a 6P body. What is going on with the Malkoff tailcap for it to be so long? Is it just a tall collar for tailstanding, or is it something about the switch? I thought all Malkoff switches were McClickies.

When the z41 was released, it was more so revolving around the twisty instead of the McClickie. I've noticed if I run a z41 with a McClickie and the set up does not fit a protected cell without crushing it, the malkoff tailswich will fit fine. I could be wrong, but I'm assuming it was made a little longer to not only cover the gap left by a z41, but to ensure a wide range of cells fitting without any issue.

Does anyone have a clever way to secure a lanyard to the MD21700 body? I like the extra capacity for my wildcat 18650 head but like having lanyards on all my lights.
Radio control car/plane hobby store that carries fuel line; one knot where two ends meet, another knot close to end knot so fuel line I stretched tight around body. Bungee cord also works.

I'm looking for a new drop in for a 6p and was wondering how the current m61n would work. This picture is of an m61 and a m61 219, both are about 10 years old. I like the tint of the 219 a lot but at distance it really loses out in throw to the m61. The picture might not show it well but side by side at night it is very clear. Can anyone speak to how the current m61n compares in throw to the cold tint version?

There's a machinist on Flashlight Fanatics that will bore an MDC 16340 to accept 18350.
He says some cannot be bored due to thickness variations, but he has successfully bored a few too.
He can measure before boring to know if there's enough thickness....so you aren't out a MDC 16340 body.

Ok so the 18650 HD is first wildcat second. The HD has a much tighter and much brighter hotspot but with a way smaller hotspot. View attachment 35304View attachment 35305
Thermal guy, your photos are really helpful. Wondering if you or another helpful member can an answer this: does the wildcat 18650 no filter out throw the old hound dog 18650 reflector version (neutral tint)? I've seen your 18650 hound dog reflector vs 18650 hound dog XT comparison. And above is the wildcat 18650 vs hound dog 18650 xt. Based off your old photos at the soccer field I thought the HD XT had useable spill for the throw but the wildcat 18650 no filter seems to be getting the nod as I continue to brush up on more recent posts here. Thanks for any advice based on experience.

I'll get back to you on this. I'll see what I can do when I get home
