Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Ya the runtime on them is one of the things that's stopping me from getting a WC. It's not bad in a MD4 with 18650's. But in a MD3 runtimes would be way short. But you can always carry plenty of extra cells soooo

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Does the MD3 take 2 - 18650s?

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Sounds like someone spotted a really good deal, and had to do a fast snag. LOL!!!

The XHP-50 used in the V6 Wildcat is thirsty, so I went with the MD4 body. The XM-L that the Hound dog uses sips juice and runs 1 full regulated hour on (2) 18500 cells, and (2) hours on 18650's.

I will still go with the MD4 on the XM-L HD, but I will use an MD3 body on the M91T head with (2) 18500 cells. I am not sure the run times I will get out of it, but a small head, a lot of throw and a shorter body is what I want for that niche.

No

MD2=2 CR123 or 1 18650
MD3=3 CR123
MD4=4 CR123 or 2 1865O
Are you sensing a pattern yet?

Yes, I now see that the number corresponds to the number of primaries. Did not know that.

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

No, for the WCv6 you would want to use 2x 18500 in the MD3

Ok, thank you
now I see what the other reply met but low runtimes w the MD3.
Not acceptable. Maybe I will go with the MD4 as I am trying to keep all my flashlight battery's AAA,AA,123 or 18650.
I don't want to add another cell to the mix. (18500)
thanks for all replies!

Yes, I understand about having a billion different cells to mess with, and what goes with what. However, Malkoff lights if you decide to get into them, were made just for that reason. I think there are some lights that can accept about a dozen different battery choices. (using dummy cells, and other means) It all is voltage dependent. Of course the lack of sleep could be kicking in, but be careful, Malkoff is a wet slippery red clay slope, with river rocks covered in green moss, and a long way down.🙂

I don't really want to go the 18500 route either, As of now I only use AAA, CR123A, and 18650. However, with the M91T head being so compact, and it is a long range thrower I could easily carry it in a MD3 body. Seriously this can get out of hand. But I like it.:grin2:

Same here I only want to run with 123 or 18650 size cells too but it is tempting at times.
Am MD3 body can also run 2 AA cell heads if you want to go there as well like I have with SF G3 before and I really like them too!

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Thank you both and I hear ya.
i have a super hound dog and MD2 now.

I'm looking at the Wildcat to see house numbers at night if needed and then be able to clear rooms and outside yards looking for patients, like on a life alert call. It has to be able to ride with me too as I can't leave it on the ambulance with multiple drivers through the week.

What are you getting two hours runtime with in your MD4 with 2X18650?

EDIT ok sorry I see you said XM-L

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

I know you are set on a Wlidcat, and far be it from me to not recommend Malkoffs, but the Wildcat is a bit lairy to use for house numbers. I think you might be better of with a Triple which would give you a very large hotspot which could be aimed, rather than the Wildcat which will light up the whole house and the one next door.
I don't know if the M91 would work in a similar way as I dont have one, but you could always get a Triple drop in and fit it to a Malkoff host or use another P60 host.

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Ya not really sure about the throw of the WC. What I need to see is a Beamshot comparing the WC VS M91.

Re: Need a Malkoff question answered fast please

Can someone confirm that the Wildcat MD3 and MD4 are that same lumen output? 1600/1500 for either light?

Hello LTBL777,
Please note that I have merged your thread into the main Malkoff 1600 Lumens Wildcat thread. Best regards,

Re: Malkoff M91

What are your thoughts on the M91 vs the Wildcat? I own a HoundDog already and would run the M91 in a 22.5 head.

Hello gs; as this query & the subsequent replies ended up being primarily focused on the Malkoff Wildcat (rather than the Malkoff M91), I have moved 20 posts from the M91 thread into this Wildcat thread; please feel free to continue here.
Best regards,

If you need to clear rooms, I will tell you the Wildcat V6 Neutral has no equal I have seen. As for as spotting numbers, you might need something else with more candela. I edited this post to recommend the MD2HOT in your situation.

I bought my first WC because I wanted to light-up the area in an extremely dark/dusty environment--looking at a specific task that was taking place in one approximately 3' x 3' area. Fairly close work (six feet or less most of the time). This light is perfect as there is no hot spot. With my other lights I had too much hot spot and it was hard to see what was happening in that specific task area. Went with CW on all of them until the most recent one and went N on that one. LOVE it!

The WC does have throw too but I have other lights if I want to reach out there. The Hound Dog and especially the Super has some serious throw. Never purchased an M91 with the lights I already had/liked/used. But with reading about the M91 my interest is piqued.
