The Official CPF Coffee Thread. All things Coffee... (And related beverages)

Dang. OK thanks Monocrom.

What got me on this quest was a recent day where I picked up a cup of medium roast coffee at a gas station - just their regular house blend - and it turned out to be the best, most flavorful and satisfying cup of coffee that I've had in at least a decade. I've since been trying to figure out just what kind it was. The label on the machine didn't offer any real clues.
I'd say go back to the station, and ask the clerk if he knows.

After drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee for a couple of years, last week it had doubled in price. Starbucks was on sale. I had overheard a coworker telling somebody "I can't stand Starbucks from a Starbucks cafe but the stuff in the bag isn't bad at all". So I tried it.

Yeah, if you like coffee that tastes like the air that comes out of an inner tube smells it's great. I've tasted old stale hotel room coffee that was better than this crap.

I received an assortment of coffee pods as a gift once. Most of them were good, but when I brewed the one called "Donut Shop," it honestly smelled like burning tires. I tossed it out without trying it.

Years ago, I lived near a fairway market that had an amazing coffee section. I started with a pour- over and a half pound of coffee, loved it and never looked back.

Now a have a burr grinder, kettle, clever dripper and buy various whole beans to brew my own coffee.

Currently, I am enjoying some of the black rifle coffee selections.

Even with all of my equipment (most bought on sale) I'm still saving over store bought and getting a more enjoyable cup.

Hi,

I've given up on both.
Last time I had either was over 3 years ago. I got a bagel from DD and asked that it not be toasted or heated up. It was heated up anyway. Don't go there anymore. Not that I would never go there ever, but I avoid it now.
I had Starbucks coffee that came in a little glass bottle, can't remember the name of it now, it was so bad I had to dump it down the drain. Who the heck is buying this stuff.

I mostly make my own coffee. Either Folgers Instant or Maxwell House Columbian ground. I used to grind my own beans but got a little lazy after some time so I mostly just buy the ground stuff now 🙂

I like Folgers and Maxwell House.

I've been switching between Tim Horton's medium roast and Krispy Kreme medium roast. They taste the same to me. Tim Horton's Colombian is pretty good also, but if I drank that every day I would get fatigued of the flavor after awhile.

Hello again,

I almost forgot, I have read and also heard by mount that Ethiopian coffee is very very good, but I do not know how much truth there is to it.

I think it has a lot to do with the creamer too if you use cream and sugar. There is some good French Vanilla and Hazelnut flavors, but also a number of other flavors friends might like too.

I generally avoid Maxwell house coffee, if I can. More often than not it is the brand on the interstate and it tastes bitter, to me. Since I lost some of my sense of smell, after Covid, it doesn't taste as bad as it used to.

I typically buy Folgers or Chock full of nuts. I think that Folgers has a smoother flavor, and chock full a stronger flavor. Chock full has a stronger effect on my bowels, but either gets me up and going in the morning.

Shop Rite often sells coffee as a loss leader. They switch brands that are on sale each week.

I like the plastic containers that Folgers comes in. I just wish I could come up with a good use for them.

Hi there,

Maxwell House also uses plastic containers for their larger size like 23 oz.
They are nice (have a handle of sorts too) and that thought came to be also, what to use the spent can for 🙂

I drank Maxwell House once, many years ago.
Though seeing how many respected fellow CPFers enjoy it,
going to get a jar of it the next time I run low on coffee.
I tend to like Cafe Bustelo. With Folgers a close 2nd.
Once in a rare while, Dunkin Donuts.
Easily over a decade since I set foot in a Starbucks.
Too rich for my Working class blood.

Edit: Clarification.

Just so you know, the Maxwell House coffee, in coffee person sizes, are also plastic containers

An old trick is to use the plastic containers to keep a spare roll of TP in

I also carry a travel pack of hand wipes and seat covers in it

Simple, and easy to keep in your vehicle, when traveling

Over the years I can't tell you how useful they've been at roadside bathrooms

Folgers has the same size container. Only in red instead of blue.
Great idea regarding the toilet roll usage.

Mrs Fixer had a bag of Dunkin stashed.
Ahhhhhhhh, good coffee again.

I don't mean to bash Starbucks. Afterall, they sell millions of cups of the stuff every day. So many people must like it. But I sure don't.
