i managed to grab a hi low ring today as there were a few back in stock

its going into my md2 camo with m61L :)

might try it with the m361 lmh - will it have six output levels with a high low ring?

like instead of low medium and high will there be 3 separate low modes when the head is loosened?

My 2014 Malkoff Junkie Wish List

I would personally like to see Gene come back with a sealed M61 variant. I like the sealed glass drop ins. They are stout! Don't get me wrong, as I like all of my other Malkoff drop ins, but I am partial to the sealed glass (M60 type) drop ins. Not necessarily with optics, but just sealed from the elements.

Also an M31N 3 mode low voltage drop in that covers the regular N, the L and LL all incorporated into one. ;)

Excessive is relative. I did a head count the other day and my overall Malkoff drop-in count was upwards of 20. Approximately 8 of them are actually in use - the others are packed up and in storage.

Including the three or so M61NLLLLs I scored from Oveready.

That is very true. I have 19 right now and they are all in hosts with batteries, ready to go! :)

I should have bought another M61NLLLL when I had the chance and they were on sale. I am running mine with 3x CR123s, use it all the time and don't expect to have to change the batteries anytime soon. :)

I would love to find a m61nl or ll.... Does gene make them anymore or are they discontinued?

I think he makes them as special runs for interested supply shops. Oveready and Illumination Supply were the only two shops I know of to carry them.

Illumination Supply was talking about putting in another order for Neutrals, or at least 219s for the new year - you might email them and ask.

Malkoff has M61N's back in stock, 10 left. Pair it with a hi/low ring and have the full power and LLL version (15 lumens or so?) in one dropin. That was my plan. :) I'd love the dedicated lower level ones too, but I still wonder how long they will be made with the 3 speed M361's around. Did Gene ever chime in on that question? I know it's been brought up before. Apologies if I'm covering old ground...

+1. I like the M61N with hi-lo ring better than the M361N because its' simple operation. But the M61N requires the MD2 head while the M361N can be fitted to any 6P type host. That makes the M361N more useful.

I think you mean to say that the hi/low ring requires the Malkoff MD2/3 head just wanted to add that elzetta has a hi/low tail cap

Would I be able to run an M91 off of a single 18650? I'm looking for the most lumens I can cram in my MD2- it's my favorite UI, and I'd love to upgrade it a bit, lumens-wise.

If the M91 won't work, what's my best second option?

M91 is probably not your best bet, as it will be out of regulation with only 4.2v's. May not even light up. Go with a M61 version, or even better, an M361 version. Made to run on a single 18650.

The M91 does not work with a single 18650 as it needs the minimum voltage of 5.5V. You can run it with 2*18340.
However, the Wildcat will work on either single or 2 li-ions.

You can run it in your MD2 body with two 18350 IMRs. Same goes for the Wild Cat. A lot of punch in a tiny package! Not very long runtimes though and you need to keep track of the voltage in order not to ruin the cells, but it sure is worth it!

Compared to a Hound Dog on an MD4 below.

...and here it is compared to a regular MD2 (a camo MD2 with a Nailbender triple Nichia mule, so actually not that regular
