Had an old MD3 laying around and decided to send it off for some new life. It's sporting an M60L at the moment

Anybody have some beamshots of a M91T? Not a lot of info on the interwebs!

Plus one. I hear it's 19000 lux? And a totally different light from the "regular" M91?

Thoughts on running one off 3x18650 cells? Given it is a 12V module.

Heres some comparison shots taken with an iphone. Much respect to the guys on this site who show quality beam shots.

This is very helpful. Too bad you cannot run M91T in a regular C/C body but need MD*. Seems like it's halfway between M61 and the Hound Dog XML. Possibly closer to M61 in terms of hotspot, but it is at least twice as bright overall lumens-wise.

Its pretty darn close to the Hound Dog.

The Hound Dog has a more articulated hotspot. It's kind of hard to tell what the hotspot is from the above pictures, need a white wall there and these two side by side.

I am basically contemplating getting an MD4 body with M91T and running it with an extension to make it 3x18650. Given it's a 12V module.

I can see it's significantly brighter than M61. The lux of Hound Dog is 20,000, and of M91T supposedly 19,000.

The M91T can throw just about as far as the HD XML. The hotspot of the HD transitions very well from spot to spill and lights up a very good area. M91T has a very good hotspot but spill is not well lit (although nearly as big as the WCv6). I would sat the difference between throw of these 2 would be close to similar as HD compared to HD super. It's not a huge difference but noticeable.

A review of Malkoff M361N.
It has been out for a while, I am surprised I overlooked it when it was introduced. Instead of collecting multiple modules, this one can replace 3 other modules all in one.
15-75-373 lumens approximates M61LLL, M61L and M61.

Keep in mind the M361N has higher output but also is limited to 6v rather than the 9v of the M61N, so there is always a tradeoff.

Yeah. I have never rhymed with the 9v option because you cannot really use li-ion cells with it. Well you can if use 2x18500 configuration but it is problematic because it has half the capacity of 18650 yet almost the same size. It is an odd cell. 18650 is 50 times more common. It is in every laptop battery. Good luck finding 18500s in a pinch.

I gravitate either towards 6p for EDC or 12p 2x18650 config for performance. My advice is to just skip 9p completely - unless you only use 123s.

I totally agree.

I have the 3 types of led available for this dropin, cool, neutral and nichia. Obviously I prefer the nichia and the neutral model.

The only "negative" point is the fact that current consumption in high mode seems to be higher than the traditional m61 version.

second negative: "Keep in mind the M361N has higher output but also is limited to 6v rather than the 9v of the M61N, so there is always a tradeoff."

That´sTrue
I had forgotten.

I use my Malkoff Hound Dog XM-L2 with as well 2x18500 and 2x18650. It's true that you loose much runtime(you get less than half) for just ~35mm shorter body. But I find it worth to have the option of 3xCR123 size with Li-Ions. It feels significantly more comfortable to carry around and hold in the hand, in my opinion. Especially when used with a Surefire combat ring. Anyway it's good to have the opportunity to use both depending on the situation!
