Why the 16650 battery size MDC's? The usual battery size in this range is 17670. Will a 17670 work in his 16650 lights?

I can’t answer that question but I wanted to point out that there’s an mdc 18650 body available too. Though it may be a bit longer due to the adapter.

I believe the 16650 has more capacity than the 17670.
I do not have a 17670 to try it out.

Wow I just looked and my AW17670 says 1600mah the keeppower 16650 on Malkoff’s website says 2500mah! I had no idea!

Yes and it's a very good battery. Run them in multiple SF hosts.

I came to realize I like the low mode in the M61T with the dual mode ring... It's rather useful at its 5 lumens when you need longest runtime and be discreet. It's just bright enough to get things done and not a lumen more. it's like the old circa year 2000 Gerber or the Infinity that produced single digit lumens, *but* at your fingertips is the 400 lumen mode.

You can always bump it from 5 lumens to 25 by switching to a 2-celled configuration.

And going from 5 to almost 30 is a more noticeable change than going from 325 lumens to 425.

It's very odd that a 16650 battery has more mah's than a 17670 since the 17670 is bigger. I suppose though that there are all types of similar sized batteries with varying amounts of capacity. It just depends who made it. Given the same manufacturer and materials a 17670 would hold more capacity.

Well I know that at one point the 18650 batteries were getting constant upgrades while the 14500, 17500, 18500, 17670 and rcr stayed stagnate. I just depends on what size battery the manufactures want to invest in based on projected sales.

Yes, 16650 is a more popular "newer" size than 17670, and battery tech (like LED tech) continues to improve.

Although I'm sure there is still new old stock around (and rewraps, of course) , I'm not aware of any current production in the 17670 size right now.

There might be some I don't know, but I couldn't find any good 17670 cells at all, when I last looked ( maybe a year ago? )

I've got a LumenFactory e1 body with a VME head on it. I call it "Stubby".

It's a fine light, but it's not as easy to hold securely as, say, the e2 with a VME head on it.

I've just noticed on the Malkoff M91T listing that the momentary output has been increased to 1040 lumens, with a constant of 750!!!

I know that there had been a recent increase over the original version but I'm sure it wasn't listed as high as that.

I may have to buy another head!!!!

I see that the brightness is increased for M61T and M61Hot as well: 480 and 740lm. I guess this is initial brightness and it drops a lot after a while like with M91T.
I am not sure I appreciate this because it probably will shorten the runtime in any case.
