The Official Zebralight Thread .

Quick question. I've purchased about half a dozen Zebralight over the years. Just found this thread. Fantastic.

Quick question - is there a way to SEARCH this thread? Maybe I'm missing it but I can't find a search button.

I want to know what is the max lumens the H604d can run at CONTINUOUSLY without ramping down, and for how long with a 3000mah cell.

Same question for the H504c.

So I figure I'll try to search this thread but can't seem to do so.

Thanks in advance for any help. 🙂

Good Question ;-)
What makes you wonder?
The info interests me, in terms of my imaginary skiing at night... lol

I dont know for your exact model, but maybe this info will get you in the ballpark:

looks like about 500 lumens for about 1.5 hours for the H600Fd
(it looks like the Fc will do about 400 lumens for about 2.5 hours.. )

I found that by searching google (not the Official Zebralight Thread) for:
"zebralight H604d runtime chart"

the CPF search button is the picture of a magnifying glass, top right:

I plan to run Eneloops in mine, but it's nice to know that you can use a 14500.
that is not the case for H53 models sold in 2024 or later

My understanding is that Lights sold after Oct 2023 have the new H54 driver, which only works on AA.

I have both an early 2023 and a 2024 model.

Inserting a LiIon into the 2024 model, only produces 2 outputs, of 8 and 23 lumens, so there is no point to using LiIon.

In the 2023 model, a button top LiIon (flat tops dont work), gives all the same outputs as on AA Eneloop.

With just one exception, the H1 output on LiIon is 400 lumens instead of 200 lumens for AA Eneloop.

All the other Eneloop outputs in early 2023 H53, produce the same output as on LiIon.

afaik 2024 H53 use same driver as 2025 H54, and both only work on AA.

Thank you Jon!

I just got my Zebra Lights and my D3AA. It feels like Christmas!

The SC65 is smaller and lighter than I imagined. I am quite impressed. The beam is so nice.

What an amazing time to be alive.View attachment 73662
What a coincidence! Was just considering the D3AA too. Just learned about this brand 2 days ago.

How is the beam compared to the Zebralight you have? Are they much wider? And how's the color rendition - did you get the 519A?

Thanks!

The color on all of these is +90. I like my EDC lights a bit on the warm side. The lights I use for work need to be more neutral (5-6K) is my preference and the EDC 23/29 fill that role well.

I have heard many complaints about the Zebra UI, but it seems pretty simple to me. I have not tried to program it yet though...

After a lot of playing around I’ve settled on a programming I’m really happy with.
From off > one click = firefly > double click = low
From off > double click = medium > double click = high
From off or on > hold turbo

The settings are obviously not in those terms but just the outputs.

I have only found one video that does a half way decent job of explaining how to program these lights. I think Zebra has really failed in this regard as there is nothing on their website.

I have known about Zebra for years, but held off as I had so many lights. I am really happy with the beam pattern and emitters of my two Zebras now.

I agree the instructions are a little confusing. After setting up one light like you want, it’s easier from then on. Kinda like riding a bicycle.

explaining how to program these lights
I followed the directions on the Zebra web page (I stayed up late 2 nights in a row, clicking like a madman, until my brain finally grasped the programming concepts).

here is the gist of Zebralight Programming:

Suggest you first switch to G6 (6 clics from off to enter that mode group), suggest you leave G5 at default (to go back to G5 do 5 clics from off):

1. From On in the output you want to increase or decrease:
do 12 Clics to enter programming

2. Then 2 clic to increase brightness by one step, or
3 clic to decrease brightness by one step.

3. Turn off to save that output.

here are the 12 internal outputs you can choose from:

0.01, 0.05, 0.34, 0.8, 2.6, 7.1, 14.3, 48, 92, 140, 181, 210

the bold values are defaults

Example:
To change the 0.8 output to 2.6 lumens:

1. With the light On at the 0.8 level, do 12 clic.
2. Then do 2 clic one time.
3. Turn the light off to save the new output.

If things get confused and you feel totally lost, you can reset a mode group to factory default.. it takes 15 clics from Off, to reset the G5 group, takes 18 clics from off to reset the G6 group, and 21 clics from off to reset the G7 mode group.

The Zebra UI is by far the most complicated programmable UI I have ever learned. It also requires the most memorization and forethought to remember what outputs are reached by which type of clics.

Zebra use hint:
Long Hold the button to cycle from Low, Medium, High (repeating). Release at the desired output (from On use 2 clic to toggle between the 2 outputs at the selected level..)

This Long Hold to cycle strategy, bypasses any need to use the 3 clic styles (1 clic, 2 clic, or short hold). Long Hold to cycle the 3 modes works from both On or Off.

If you have any questions about Zebralight UI, I will be happy to help.

If you have questions about Anduril, please post to this D3AA thread.

What about the factory reset? If you want to reset G6, do you need to be in G6?

This is a bit confusing from the website.
  • Three consecutive 5-click (or 6-click, 7-click) to reset the G5 (or G6, G7) back to the factory default settings
Thanks

I dont think so..
cant check now, as I sold my Zebras.

I felt the Zebra UI was too limiting for me. And too hard to teach to anyone I might have given a Zebra to. Also did not love the Tint of Domed 519a.

I just ordered a D3AA w sw45k instead.

If you want to reset G6, click 18 times (3 x 6 clicks)

For what it's worth, I really like the ZL UI. Not G5, but find the G6 and G7 very useful and easy to remember once familiarized. Sure wish they'd let me turn G5 into a custom mode though.

Mine are always set up with:
1 click > LOW
2 clicks > HIGH
click and hold > CYCLE (gets you to MEDIUM from LOW in half a second.

Anduril is fine out of the box and once programed they are great. However, I can never remember how to program it on the fly. Always need the cheat sheet.

That, and I get annoyed with the tendency of Anduril lights to briefly flicker on high before going to firefly.
