To what extent are you looking to see if it works? Mine will fire-up on alkaline and change modes, although, I'm not sure it will go to maximum output.
Turn the lamp off and leave it for a few minutes. Will it turn on if you press the button? The problem is only with new alkaline, if you drain them to lower voltage it will work.

fwiw
I created a thread on Reddit asking if anyone with an SC54c N had issues using Alkaline, only one reply, but they said yes.. Alkaline is UnReliable in their SC54c N

Anyone else here own an SC54c N, does it work on Alkaline?
Thank you very much with the help. Can you please also describe how to test? If you just put in alkaline everything will work. The problem is that it will not turn on if you leave it off for a few minutes. You then need to unscrew and tighten the tailcap to wake it up again. The problem is only with new alkaline, if you drain them to lower voltage it will work as normal. The same problem with all alkaline batteries, have tried 5-6 most common in Europe and none worked. I have the H54c N but it should be similar with the SC54c N.

that thread is not getting any participation.. so I dont plan to continue that discussion

I dont think it is useful for people to have to do all the different steps you mention, in order to use a 2025 AA Zebra 54 series w Alkaline.. it just sounds UnReliable.

Yes the H54 and the SC54 are very similar.. the H54 just has slightly lower outputs (mcbob mentioned it uses a different resistor)

I just tested my 2023 H53Fc N on an old tired Alkaline, maximum output is 17 lumens. My Skilhunt H150 gives 20 lumens maximum on that same battery.

That battery in my 2023 SC53c N gives 25 lumens maximum, and in my Emisar D3AA gives 9 lumens maximum.

The Skilhunt is a great little dual fuel light. It differs from the Zebra in a few details.

(2023 H53Fc N pic from Tim McMahon review)

the Skilhunt:
1. has no glass, so nothing can break if dropped
2. UI is imo more user friendly than Zebra UI
3. on AA maxes out at 90 lumens, the Zebra can reach 200 lumens
4. switch button is on the side of the head, which makes it easier to change outputs when worn as a headlamp.
5. switch button sticks up, it needs to be locked out when not in use (loosen tailcap slightly).
6. switch indicates battery level for 5 seconds, automatically when first turned on.
7. Has a tailmagnet
8. dual fuel AA/14500 (no special button presses to change back and forth)
9. magnetic charging for LiIon
10. Lower price
11. Very steady Lux, much lower Flicker Index, no Deep Modulation:

Yes. Mine works perfectly on alkalines.
Thanks for testing. What year did you buy it? How did you test it?

I just bought it last month. I have just been using it for daily activities (work and normal EDC).

Interesting to know that your lamp works with alkaline. Do you have H54c N or SC54c N? My lamp also works fine when you're using it but won't turn on when left off for a few minutes. Very strange problem.

Was Zebralight the first manufacturer of angle lights?
possibly one of the first Right Angle LED Headlamps in Tube format.

I think Petzl had other headlamps before that, but they were not Tubular bodies w right angle heads..

a Headlamp was Zebralight's first product

the Zebra spreadsheet says the H50-P4 (first entry at bottom of sheet) was:

"The very first ZebraLight product. World's first "cylindrical with rubber loop" headlamp ever invented"

I bought my H51 year 2011 and I didn’t know of any other light with that design. Now it’s common design from many brands.

request help from someone who owns a Zebra H600 and a Protected 18650.. does it fit and work?

I read in a couple different places that protected 18650 fit Zebra Headlamps, but dont own one to verify for myself..

here is one reference:

"Zebralight headlamps will work with protected batteries. Source: I use a cold-rated protected cell in my Zebra headlamp as part of my winter car kit.

Regular Zebralights can't use protected or button-top, only a flat-top battery."

this is a protected cold weather 18650, it is 69.1mm long:

Im asking because Im considering buying an H600d Mk4 and wanted to use these USB-C 18650 that are 70.3mm long

Can someone verify if protected 18650 fit an H600 please?

My ZebraLight 18650 headlamp
(don't know which model number it is, sorry)
fits and runs Just Fine with my
Orbtronic 3400 Protected Button-top cell.

Hope this is helpful.

Yes, it happens many times during a major programming clickfest.
But this morning, when I just turn the light On, it stays on continuously, without any changes when I click it On/Off.

ZebraLight's response was to return it for a refund or a replacement.
Hate to do this (send it back for replacement) and wait who knows how long.
Is there a chance I won't have the same issues with a new/replacement light?

------------

Cleaned all contacts with alcohol, lightly lube o-ring and thread, will see if it helps.
Thanks everyone!

Want to report that the freeze I had with my light before, only happens during a major programming clickfest.
After that I never had this issue again, the light works perfectly.

I bought some of the first zebralights that were offered a bunch didn't have any markings I will have to get together some pics. Is this one an H52? Not an early one.
