The Titanium Sapphire AAA Light

It's interesting that almost every custom knife maker marks their blade, either by laser, photo etch, stamping, or some other method. I'd like to see at least a serial number, so a particular light could be tracked as to when it was made.

I'd like to see......

nothing. I stand by the adage "if it ain't broke, it don't need fixin'."

To be quite honest there is nothing quite like a McGizmo... how could you ever mistake it for something else? To put a logo on would only serve to add extra cost and take away from the very refined, simple look of the lights. Like others have said, if it ain't broke...

Dito on no markings from my perspective.

On the other hand ... with all the copying going on ... a McG logo could help identifiy the original.

There is a custom knife maker in HI (Tom Mayo) who from time to time writes (engraves) some pretty funny stuff on the inside surface of the clips on his TNT knives going to some of his friends. Most of them never know it is there. Yes I am a friend of Tom's. :grin2:

I agree that all of Don's light are very unique and easily distinguishable from the majority of other lights. I do like the "unblemished" looks of the lights as well. However, a logo or some other type of Artisan's mark does not necessarily have to be out-worldly visible or if visible, detract from the beauty of the light. For example, a hand-scribed autographed piston in the PD lights. (Think, Malkoff drop-ins.) In the case of the Sapphires, it would help distinguish between the mass-produced Arc variants and the McGizmo version. (Think, PK logoed Surefires.)

The main reason to include some sort of marking is for the sake of posterity. As humans, we tend to think in the short term. Consider though, a future CPFer 10,25 or even a 100 years from now trying build an authentic McGizmo collection. Plus, it gives non-CPFers who may stumble upon a lost McGizmo some where a starting point to google.

In any case, I am sure that if Don ever decided to brand the lights in some fashion, it would be done well, elegantly and up to his high standards. My vote is for a big McG logo visible in the beam pattern. 😉

are all the pcb's imprinted or just the sundrops?
IMO this is a nice subtle branding.

+1 for No Markings. I think his lights transcend any markings, making them superfluous and unnecessary.

He doesn't need any anyhow. Anyone here for any reasonable length of time knows Don's lights when they see them.

Those of us who own some know them as well.

Hey! I want one of these!! 😀

This is exactly what I have been looking for.
I dont see any prices, or anyone actually buying one??!!

What do I have to do to get one (if it even is avalible for sale)??

They are all sold (~150 of them). They were at $150 a piece and this was a limited first run to gauge interest. Arc (ArcFlashlight.com) is commissioning a second run within the next few weeks.

I too will be offering up another wave or two of these within the month or so. No ETA at present.

Thanks for the info 🙂

Should I email someone at Arc to let them know how badly I need one??
Or just wait, impatiently? :mecry:
