Given that misapprehensions of lighting technology, regulations, and just plain science cause people to purchase the wrong lights or make the wrong modifications to their vehicles, which ultimately result in reduced safety for those persons and others around them, this section needs a sticky to help people get good, solid information before they go out on some "performance" site and get ineffective and dangerous bulbs.

I agree. Much of the posts here have been answered before.

List of topics that should be included, IMO

should i get a HID kit for my halogen lamps?
whats the deal with those +50% bulbs?
what does HIR mean?
How can I make a harness?
what are good auxiliary driving or fog lights?
how can i restore my lenses?
what's the deal with tinted bulbs?
does yellow light work better in the fog?
i have sealed beams, what is the best replacement?
in what case are overwatt bulbs a good idea or a bad idea?
do LED plug-and-play bulbs work well?
what are CRI and CCT and how do they affect me?
what is correct aiming procedure?
links to FMVSS108 and ECE R37

how about bulb names? Those always confused me. What's the difference between an HB3 bulb and a 9005? What about the difference between HB2 and 9003? Those may be silly questions, but then seriously, what's the difference between HB2 and H4?

I fourth the motion. Just covering HID kits and blue bulbs would do wonders. If someone started a new thread, with links to previous threads, and contacted a moderator, I'm sure they could get a sticky out of it........
