Thanks to all off you out there I now know I have a 15MCP Thor made by Johnlite.

Here is some info and pictures about the light. Again sorry about the bad camera. I compared it all to the AA minimag, so it would be easier for you all to se size since we use the metric measurements in Norway and i dont know what u guys use.

The box :

Out of the box :

And accessories : The ac adapter is delivering 12V & 1000mA (1AMP).

Here is a comparison between the 15MCP Thor, a 2.5Mcp Thor with a 12v 2.5A battery and the AA minimag.

Removed the rubber ring.

Unscrewed the screws and inside the light. There is a lot of waste space for moding but I think heat will be an issue.

Wow!!! Nice pictures. Thank you. That gives a much better understanding of how big it is when compared to the minimag.

If anyone out there has a minimag and a 10 MCP Thor get a size comparison. I have a feeling it's A LOT bigger.

Again, thank you for the pictures /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

The Thor comes across as a very well built spotlight, vs the cheapo versions you find everywhere. For example, the metal-lined battery compartment, the better wiring job, the fact that it has a fuse at all.. well guess I'm comparing it against a much cheaper spot.

Thanks for the detailed photo essay, almost makes me want to get one but shipping charges would kill me. The Philips bulb is nice, too - 100/130W!

if it uses a 130W lamp, then is should be a little brighter than the 10MCp thor. right??

Great photos, thanks! With that huge reflector it looks like an excellent candidate for either an HID mod or a voltage boost to get the most out of that bulb.

Looks for all the world like a 10MCP with an extended reflector holder and bigger reflector with a slightly higher rated bulb.

Same battery, same guts!

That 2.5mcp unit looks nice too! Maybe I'll look for one.

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

130 watt bulb with the same 7 amp hour battery as a 10 mcp
thor so less run time

so does it weigh 24 pounds ?

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

It can't weigh 24 lbs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Where is everybody getting that is weighs 24 pounds? Mine is about 13 pounds.

Anyway I have been playing around with it tonight and it throws like h*** /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Well, the Thor 15 MCP Thor is 24 pounds. If yours isn't 24 pounds, I guess that Cyclops may have made a typo because that definitly looks like a real Thor.

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Im sure it is a typo, who would want to carry a 24lb spotlight? (except for some people on this forum)

When will these be avialble in the US?

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Here is the correct weight :

Shipping box : 1.87lbs
Carcharger : 0.27lbs
Accarger : 1.19lbs
Battery : 5.25lbs
Light w/o batt : 5.95lbs

Total shipping weight : 14,53lbs

Total light weight : 11,20lbs

Hope i got it right /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Well, that is just about the same weight as the 10 MCP Thor. So obviously weight wont be more of an issue than it already is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

I want 5

one under each arm

one on each shoulder

one on top of my head

Re: Thor 15MCP Stripdown with pictures. Full specs

Wow...that reflector's bigger than I was expecting.

Okay, so someone send me one and I'll compare it to the 10MCP one for you! Presently I can't afford one, but know perfectly well that once I find someone in the UK selling these at a reasonable price, I'll be adding it to the collection along side the 10MCP version.

Nice pics Gekofix! Using the MiniMag for a size reference was a neat idea there.
