...what happens? I just bought a Thor last night and wondered if this could cause damage. I don't think it would, or it would be a much-discussed issue. Just wanted to make sure.

BTW, my previous "lumen champ" was a 1.5 million CP spotlight. The Thor is just plain sick in comparison.

Soon, you'll find the way of HID and you will be lost from normality forever /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

To answer your question, I don't know. I am going to my local Sams Club to see if they have any. If they do I'll buy one or two and find out for you.

JBL14,
"BTW, my previous "lumen champ" was a 1.5 million CP spotlight. The Thor is just plain sick in comparison."

Are you saying that your 1.5M CP spotlight outperforms the Thor??? What spotlight do you have?

I think he means it the other way around /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"Sick" as in a slang term for wicked cool, crazy. Or something like that.

Yes, I'm using the word "sick" in slang-ese. The 1.5-mil CP light can't hold a, uh, candle to the Thor.

I took the Thor to a semi-rural area last night and was able to light stuff up very well from 300+ yards. The limiting factor was the light smog in the air.

Also, it was fun to try it out in the neighborhood on "points of interest" that were very distant (and only for a second or so max so as to reduce my chances of encountering angry folks or Johnny Law). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

if you flip both switches at the same time
your thor will explode with the power of 10 sticks
of dynamite.

It wont hurt it at all,
if you have the low switch on at the same time as the high switch, it still lights up in high.
The High switch pretty much bypasses the low switch.

Not neccesarily, you'd have to lite their fuses first /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif

Flip both switches simultaneously and...get both!

Well,

All is not as it seems!

I have 2 Thors, one from Costco in Gray, one in Yellow from Schucks Automotive.

The Yellow works as posted, push both, only the High goes on!

The Gray Costco version, however, lights BOTH filaments when you push both!

I can't see any difference in the layouts, so it must be on the chip.

Re: Flip both switches simultaneously and...get both!

When I bought mine (yellow from Sam's), it originally came wired so that the high switch overrode the low switch and lit up just the lower filament. The low switch was wired to light up both filaments in series, giving you the longer run time and less light.

I however, didn't like that and re-arranged the terminal wires so that each switch controls a filament, and I can have both on at full power if I so choose... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I kind of like the different beam the mirrored filament makes. I have the reflector and bulb assembly in mine oriented so that this beam is directed downwards and illuminates the lower half of the area in front of the light more so than everything else. Better for looking at closer things, I think!

With both filaments at full power and a power source that can deliver, there's a whole lotta photons coming out the business end... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Chip in a THOR? Why would the Thor have a chip? It's old technology and doesn't need a chip (except may to light up that LED for charging).
