Re: New T10S & T10T?

Thanks for the pics, yes can see the difference on the hot spot/spill and agree it's not that much. Maybe something has changed then ..........At the time I tested mine, the d25a on 14500 was noticeably brighter by a good bit over the t10 on AA loop. Then the t10/t10t on 14500 was noticeably brighter than the d25a 14500 if makes sense.

Yes it makes sense ven. Alas, I see it as a positive change though, since the light will not get as hot as before, in fact, I ran down my 14500 on high till battery over discharge protection kicked in and the light, although it did get very warm, did not become unbearably hot during that time (like my Tool did on high mode with 10440)

Best thing IMO is that the medium mode is maintained for both battery sources

I'm still not sure why Thrunite warns about using 14500 Li-Ion though

I hope someone posts beamshots of the new XPL versions :)

EDIT:

Since I had some free time during lunch today at work decided to take comparison beamshots of Medium mode between 14500 and Nimh. Same camera settings at 1/25 sec, f3.5, AWB...only difference is I changed the ISO abit as will be detailed. FYI photos were taken in server room/storage room.

T10S Eneloop Medium mode ISO 100

T10S 14500 Medium mode ISO 100

T10S Eneloop Medium Mode ISO800

T10S 14500 Medium Mode ISO800

As can be seen, exactly the same!

yes, i founf this out last night when i was testing the IPX-8 (water proof rating) rating on it; 1/4 of the inside of the reflector/LED was filled with water.
the glass on my "New Version" is not flat and i cant seem to fix it.
this is the one i just bough btw; http://www.thrunite.com/thrunite-t10s-new-version/

*edit
on closer inspection, there are water-spots on the reflector and on the inside side of the glass.

I suggest you two contact Thrunite to and demand for replacement unit. Take pictures if possible and attach with your email to them. Seems to be like lousy quality control to me during assembly. Mine on the other hand has been flawless.

I'm waiting on a t10t aND a t10s, both with XP-L's. I love Thrunite's products, but their customer service for me so far has been a nightmare, aND I don't tend to complain unless there is a big issue. Still can't wait to play with these lights when I get them.

I ordered at amazon , so I am going to send it back for a refund.I ordered a tn4a instead, not the same kind of flashlight but I feel that I needed a little bit more power.I hope I've made the right choice though I'm not fan of strobe mode on flashlights.

It's a good light, as evidenced by SB's latest review on it. Although it is a very different form factor compared to the T10 though...:grin2:

IIRC strobe mode is a hidden mode though, not on the main modes.

So back to T10S...

Finally managed to get out the stripped hex screw. (used small pliers to grip the screws sideways and rotate them, in fact, I tighten them this way now after screwing it in with an allen wrench, prevents any stripping)

Did some cleaning on the tail cap end, noticed it wasn't lubed and the rubber/silicone over the tailcap switch is so thin and fragile!, I basically slathered super lube on the entire top part of the silicone/rubber switch cover for better water proofing (hopefully), and lubed the retaining ring threads before putting back everything.

Switch feels nicer now too, not sure if its the lube helping with that though :D

Well, I got the correct t10s with xp-l and I love it. But of course, they sent me the t10t with the wrong LED haha. Once again, they're not the best in customer service.

Left is XP-L, they look white in real life. Sorry, I just got home from work and am too tired to use a real camera so here's some phone pics.

Thanks for the photos sarge, really appreciate it.

Looks like beam pattern is similar to xml2, guess I'd prefer the xpg2 for a balanced throw and flood...although the xpL emitter is brighter...is it more efficient than xpg2?,dont see any change in advertised runtimes for moonlight and medium mode.

Just received my T10S with the XP-L emitter from Amazon. I already have a T10 and T10T, and I'm thrilled to get another in stainless steel. I must say, I like the heft of the T10S over the aluminium and titanium versions. Flawless construction, and they now come with spare switches and serial numbers.

I should state that my particular samples have serial numbers. I suspect this is with new Thrunites coming out as my earlier T10T doesn't have a serial number.

Yes it was and that had not cured it!!!(forgot to add) so i unscrewed the end cap, removed the clicky and opened the tabs up(flush against the plastic sides).I opened them off the plastic sides maybe 0.5mm-1mm each side,re-fitted,and works flawless and been a couple of weeks, almost daily use too. I can presume that the contacts were not........well making contact with the body(only presume, but right or wrong its fixed 100%) no iffy mode changes, all and every mode select now is spot on,no pressing to hard/soft or not changing............ever!!!! Does exactly what i want, when i want.
Excellent light,very well made,love it!!!!

Had a few comments too in work when peeps have noticed it,lot of positive comments along with "ah yes forgot your the torch guy"

Thanks Ven, I was having the same issues with my new T10T, tried your fix. Now its working the way it should.

Just took some pics of medium modes,to make it even more obvious as CW appears brighter than NW,I put a loop in the CW T10 and an efest IMR cell in the NW T10t

low the same

Meduim on both lights
A clear pic(even on iPhone ) that on medium mode, the NW with the 14500 IMR cell is clearly brighter.

High is noticeable again from medium ,hence my thoughts as retaining the low, medium now (20lm) is similar to high 169lm(on eneloop) and high on IMR at a guess of well over 300lm+............quote "guess"

Wow looks like a really good light. Any ideas on where I could get this cheap? (In the normal version/cheapest would be fine NOT the SS)

Do you think that this light would be good for walks? What do you think about this vs the Fenix E12??

major difference would be the mode spacing and the availability of a deep carry pocket clip. Personally I prefer the t10 mode spacing. E12 50 lumen to 130 lumen, I wouldn't see anyany real significance difference in terms of visual output.

To be honest, unless you're looking specifically for SS or titanium. Both are good choices.
