I just realized that the extension tube from my UltraFire Conqueror fits on the A9.

Has anyone run the A9 at 9v ?

I could be wrong but if my memory serves me correctly, I believe I read somewhere that the A9 is 2.7V ~ 10.0V, so running three primaries would be no problem. I wouldn't chance RCR's though.

Here's a quote from the A9 spec sheet
Step down constant current driver, High efficiency with dual mode DC-DC regulator (PWM / PFM), working voltage is 2.7V to 10V. Replace battery when the light is too dim. Batteries not included.
It should work.

Edit: Two 18500 might also fit(100mm vs 102mm).

Bump. in hopes of getting an answer

I've got an A 9 and I think it's pretty impressive with its two CR123s....... it should be a riot with three regulated RCR 123s. Where can I get an extension tube that fits?

Does your UF Conqueror extension tube fit 1 x 18650? I'm thinking buying 2 extensions if they fit 1 x 18650 inside. It would be a very good idea to extend the run time as much as 4x more at the same voltage. I'm not too worry about its length.

The only way that I know of to get the UF extension tube is to purchase the M-C3 Conqueror. (SKU 11623 on DX, $46.50)
Also, you will probably have to use the tailcap from the Conqueror as well; in conjunction with the extension tube. On the M-C3 it's a momentary only or twist to lock on.

The extension isn't long enough to accommodate 2X 18650.

From another poster, I found out that the 5 way switch from my M-C1 Conqueror works with the Tiablo A9 as well.

I'll have to try the 3X primaries tonight. :naughty:

I have been told that UF and Tiablo are made by the same people under different names. Many parts are, therefore, interchangeable. But from a safety point of view I would use either 1x18650 or 2xCR123As. Putting 2 or more rechargeables together is inviting trouble, even if all are protected cells.
