It's bedtime so no lengthy post, but progress is being made🙂 These will go out in the next day or two.

It's finally getting to the point where I'm not totally wiped after work (and the 10-12 hour days have ceased for a bit) so things should start picking up.

Hi Chip,

I just stumbled onto this thread and your cool little light.

If you're still planning on making this light for CPF members... I'd LOVE to have one. Let me know if I can still score one of these beauties!!!:popcorn::popcorn:

Thanks,
Dan

Yay Chip! I hope you make these forever and keep this as a cottage industry for yourself... My light is holding up very nicely despite literally 24/7 wear and tear... but I want to have these at the ready should I need another for myself or for gifts...

😀😀😀

Hey there, if you could add me to the list, here's a repost of my order from a couple months back. Thanks!

Hey there. I sent 2 emails but no reply, so I guess I'll try posting an order here. I'd like:

- one FancyFli with recessed LED
- one TiFli with exposed LED, splash anodized (would like to discuss color choices when the time comes)
- if you decide to start selling the titanium chain/clasps, I'd like one of those in a length somewhere betwee 26-30". (I realize you're probably not selling this yet.)

If you wanted to make a Timascus version, I would be all over it, by the way!

Please confirm this order, if you would.

Thanks much. Robert Gryphon

Just to let everybody know that I recieved my TiFli two days ago in perfect condition :twothumbs A very nice little flashlight with floody beam for close-up work 🙂

I'd paid for it in middle of May and was starting to get little bit worried since we all hadn't heard anyting for a while. The only thing I am worried about now, is how the batteries will preform after the things that has been mention in earlier posts...

Just to continue to update folks, I've had mine since the very beginning, since May or about 4 months. I use it daily and have swum with it, showered with it daily and have basically treated it like a dog tag... and it looks gorgeous and still performs beautifully!

I'm on the same set of batts (though I do only use it a few min per day finding way to bed or bathroom), and it seems just as bright to me.

I will say that I had to clean off a bit of oxidation a few weeks ago after swimming a bunch with it, but it went right back to normal after that.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Agreed on the waiting...no response to my post or PM. Also, I'd like to hear from the many (?) who have already received their lights---machining top notch, no problems (some call these "issues" anymore), great little light overall????? I'd like to hear some more....

Karl

I got my light right at the beginning and its cool. Works well, machining is great and its still on the first set of batts and still round my neck 24/7.

To me it looks like Chip has got too much on the go to keep up with lights and work. Communication is the key but that's easy for me to say sitting here happily retired.

I think you will find the light is worth the wait though.

I think you will find the light is worth the wait though.

I think it's fair to say that if I knew how long I had to wait I could make a fair decision on whether to stay on the list, or cancel and use the funds for another light. The lack of communication really bothers me.

Seriously, how long does it take to sit down and write a 2 minute post to update everyone on the build status? I think for this reason I am going to bail. I know how these things work out sometimes, and I am not trying to be a jerk about it. But at this point I have no idea if my light will ever get built.

Please cancel my order.

Lets keep this in perspective, this is really a side project not his bread and butter. Chip was kind enough to provide a light that folks didn't think they could get. He's trying to help us out (and make a few bucks on the side). He has an obligation to his family to keep his focus on the job that pays the bills and provides health benefits (something we all can relate to). Patience is a virtue.

I think he has his priorities straight: family, job then CPF.

Thanks Chip, we do appreciate it!

Chip was lucky enough to go from no job, to a job that he enjoys and was working 6 days a week at least a the beginning. Then family on top of that doesn't leave that much time for hobby work.

Chip does great work - I'm sure he'll be back here before too long...

Anodizing by Chip (Mokume bead by Gollum). I think I got lucky though with choosing to anodize the 2-pak McClicky - the different angles you look at the light (in addition to it being round) due to the ribbing make the great splash anodizing even more wonderful (different colors at different angles). Incidentally - since I got question in PM - head is a Surefire E1B head that Milky has been in - Creemator, no TIR, has reflector.

You got to try waiting for a light for 7 months.... and still waiting for it.

My main issue is also with the lack of communication.

I bought two Ti Flis at the beginning of this project (one exposed and one recessed LED). Upon receiving them it was apparent that there was something wrong with the LED in the recessed Ti Fli. It wasn't nearly as bright as the other light and I found it to be almost completely useless. I contacted Chip about this and he told me to send it back and he would take care of it ASAP. That communication took place on May 21.

He doesn't need to make a body for mine, all that needs to be done is to change out LEDs. Something I would have to assume wouldn't take too much time compared to starting a light from scratch.

Back to the communication aspect. It wasn't until I made noise in this thread that my e-mails or PMs were responded to since the email where he told me to send it back.

So here I am again. I really don't like doing this because I realize that for some people it might negatively reflect on myself as well. Unfortunately, it appears to be the only way to find out what is going on. Simple updates would make lots of people happy, or at least more understanding then they are now.

So....any updates?

Thanks for the info LL...and others. Appreciated. I like the appearance of the light but, no communication isn't a good idea. I guess I'll pass....

Hey guys,

Like I said before, I'm sorry the production of these has gotten so behind. I only have one left to anodize and a mokume tailcap to remake and I'll be caught up and ready to start on the next batch. I'll be working on those this weekend. Thanks to those who have been so understanding, as someone who has waited over a year for a light on a prepay I hate getting behind like this. That's exactly the reason I only accepted payment for a few of these at a time. On a good note, we'll be switching to a 4-day work week soon so I should be able to dedicate at least one day a week in the shop.

Incidentalist- I responded to you in a pm on 7/21 saying I would swap the LED and ship your light in the next day or so and I did. Since I had no further contact I had assumed you had received it?
