<keeps reading the newspaper> "oh no" ...<looks out window> ..."not taktook" ...<sips coffee> oh dear whatever shall we do"

...aaaannnnd they're turning it back on already. While there are a few gems there, they are few and far between. Mostly I've see a lot of vapid, uninformed, self-absorbed junk.

i have a few vids on tiktok mostly boreing stuff of small town living

tbh, they've known about this for a year at least. It's been talked about for at least a few years. If someone is crying in their chai tea over this, it is THEIR fault.

"oh look! We're on the 'taktook happy-time train! Wait wah? There's a rock wall in the path?!?!!?? Nah that's just..." SPLAT!

@raggie33 That's what it's supposed to be used for. "social media" is to be social in some context and not try to make $$$ for virtually showing your @55 and teets to the world.

Dont use it or fecebook and dont care. Its just another advertising system that wastes your time.and you cant claw it back from this machine. Nor any data. If both went away we all would be better off .

was for sure a politics thing its back open after trump made comments lol

thats a shame.jpeg

Literally never touched it.

Banning it was one of the few things virtually everyone in government agreed on. Across presidential administrations, congresses, and the courts. Let's hope it sticks!

That's right. It's almost impossible to get bipartisan agreement on anything, yet both sides agreed on banning them.

they dont allow nudity on tiktok hect they dont alllow cussing
They do allow for "almost nude scantily clad ...persons" but it's 18+
I watch a utoob channel that watches vids from takytoe and a lot of them are g-string clad gals. They're not nudes but almost.

People are always too celebratory of governments exercising control. TikTok is a crap app, but in my opinion anything "big" government isn't something to be celebrated.

Governments should be to build, maintain and fix infrastructure, provide care/support to those in need and to protect people from crime. Not waste countless hours of taxpayer money in hundreds of thousands of dollars paying for supreme courts to talk about an app. The US government just doesn't like the idea of not being able to subpoena the data whenever they want.

To your point, there're plenty of apps that farm personal data from US citizens ... but they seem to be OK for some reason?

I get that china is china and the US doesn't like china atm. Like always, never a black and white thing.

Exactly. MOST apps/ websites etc are all farming data (that upstream goes to the CCP anyways) but TikTok was (probably?) the largest on-US owned social media app, so they weren't having it.
